Rabina Charya: Hull players are chasing their own shadows...

Paul Collins: Newcastle are good, but Hull are making them look better than they are. Parted like the Red Sea for that third goal. Pathetic.

Stavros Makrozachopo: Heads dropping, lack of belief, no fightback. These are relegation signs for Hull.

A reminder Hull have won just two of their last 12 Premier League home games before this. Looks like it will be unlucky 13...

The Hull fans are streaming out in their masses. They have had enough.

"Newcastle have played some neat and tidy football but they haven't been amazing. They have been very professional, going about their job with quiet confidence. The target is always 40 points, but I do believe they will be safe now, and maybe John Carver can let his team play with a bit more freedom of expression. But Hull really are in trouble."

"That is it for Hull. They are finished today. Yoan Gouffran got a little bit fortunate in that his shot looped up over Allan McGregor, who couldn't do anything about it. But Curtis Davies is limping, and Gouffran went past him far too easily. Some will say Davies is brave and is soldering on despite an injury, but as captain, if you are struggling then you shouldn't be in central defence."

It was always coming. Tom Huddlestone gifts Newcastle possession at the halfway line. Substitute Yoan Gouffran dances through the hosts' defence before firing a shot into the net - via Ahmed Elmohamady's deflection - from 20 yards. That is a horror-show defensively from Hull.

Darren Loose: Is Gerrard injured or dropped? If dropped, Rogers should be sacked! He's the reason he's leaving!

Kash: I can see why Rodgers has left Stevie out. Bolton away then the Merseyside derby to come.

Josh Trebilcock: I see Gerrard is left out of the Liverpool squad. Outrage, then check my fixtures list... ah...

"Steve Bruce has made his three changes now. That is the last throw of the dice for him. There is a real lack of belief from his players. The body language is not brilliant. Bruce has to somehow go into that dressing room and pick them up. There has to be a watershed moment for them. Nikica Jelavic has worked hard, but there hasn't been many others doing the same, it has to be said."

Newcastle are enjoying themselves. Their passing is sharp and their possession football is frustrating Hull. Could this be their first win since the departure of Alan Pardew? It looks as though it will be.

All credit to Hull. They haven't given up but they are fast running out of time to salvage anything. A goal could make for a tasty last 20 minutes.

It's all over at Griffin Park and Middlesbrough move up to second in the Championship with a hard-fought 1-0 over Brentford. Captain Grant Leadbitter was the hero, clearing a shot off the line early on and then scoring from the penalty spot on the stroke of half-time.

Huddersfield and Leeds are still playing in the other early game and it remains 1-1.

Mark Taylor: What a ridiculous statement by Danny Mills (47 mins) to suggest that a hand ball could be worse than a career threatening stamp.

Dazzler: Is Danny Mills serious? Of course Costa's stamps are worse. Elmohamady's handball hurts no-one. Costa could have injured two players.

Dan: Danny Mills, I think there is a difference in cheating to gain an advantage and potentially ruining someone's career by stamping on their ankle. Take your blinkers off.

"When you are down there and it is not going for you, it just doesn't happen does it. The ball is saved by Tim Krul initially and as it comes to Nikica Jelavic he can't react quick enough with the ball a fraction behind him. The luck is going against Hull, and somehow Steve Bruce has to turn that around."

Andrew Robertson slips the ball to Gaston Ramirez, his shot is kept out by goalkeeper Tim Krul and Nikica Jelavic is somehow unable to turn the loose ball into the net from yards out. It is just not Hull's day. Incredible.
