Emre Can is struggling with the presence of Demba Ba. He gifts the ball straight to the striker on the edge of the area, but Martin Skrtel is across quickly to make the block.

A chance for Tottenham as Christian Eriksen tries to dance his way through a crowd of players inside the area, but fails.

How did he not score that!? Liverpool have a glorious chance as Jordan Henderson gets away down the wing, sends the ball into the area and a defensive mix-up sees goalkeeper Cenk Gonen stranded and Adam Lallana running on to a loose ball. He has an open goal in front of him but smashes the ball well over the bar from close range. Should have done better.

Fiorentina attack from the off as Mohamed Salah lets fly with a curling effort from the edge of the box, just wide.

Besiktas managed to hold Tottenham in the Europa League group stage to a 1-1 draw in their away leg earlier this season and they are again holding their own against English opposition. Can Liverpool find a breakthrough?

  7. Manager reactionpublished at 21:05 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February 2015

Everton boss Roberto Martinez: "It was a test of character to go behind to a team in great form at home. It was a great result. When you see us play like that, we get back to memories of last season. In the league we have felt cagey. Europe is a fresh challenge."

"I have always said that Romelu Lukaku is an important player for us. He ticks every box - he is the complete striker."

"Bryan Oviedo has put a lot of work in since he has come back. He has had a normal reaction to just coming back from injury. John Stones will learn from his sending off. It will help him in the long run. Even with 10 men we were positive."

Will Fiorentina look to nullify Andros Townsend more effectively in the second half? He had plenty of joy down that right flank in the first 45 minutes.

  9. Postpublished at 21:01 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February 2015

It is hammering it down at White Hart Lane, but Roberto Soldado won't care what the weather is like there, he'll probably play in anything given his home record - 10 of his last 11 goals for Spurs have been scored at White Hart Lane.

    Bradley Allen
Tottenham academy coach on BBC Radio London

I think Spurs can be encouraged by the high tempo and play, but Fiorentina are still in it, so Spurs have to be careful if they start chasing it. I think Harry Kane will be thrown into the action in the last 15/20 minutes.

Ajax go into half-time with a 1-0 lead over Legia Warsaw thanks to a goal from Arkadiusz Milik while Villarreal lead Salzburg 1-0 at the interval after Ikechukwu Uche's goal.

Dynamo Kiev enter the break 1-0 up at Guingamp after Miguel Veloso's effort, but end the half with nine men after red cards for Andriy Yarmolenko and Younes Belhanda.

Europa League champions Sevilla end the first-half 0-0 with Borussia Monchengladbach, and it is also goalless in Belgium, between Anderlecht and Dynamo Moscow.

Oh dear Nacer Chadli! He won't want to see this chance again in a hurry. Roberto Soldado's header is pushed to Chadli's feet by Ciprian Tatarusanu, but he somehow clips the ball onto the bar with an open goal in front of him.

Inter are back ahead in this enthralling first half, but it is not a moment for Craig Gordon's scrapbook, he can't hold a ball into the box and Rodrigo Palacio is on it to poke into the unguarded net.

Great save by Cenk Gonen! A Liverpool corner is poked out of the area by Gokhan Tore and Alberto Moreno is on it. He is miles outside the area but connects with the ball superbly to send a rasping drive that Gonen has to push over.
