A stoppage in play at Anfield as a pitch invader races on. Cheers from the home crowd as, I guess, the culprit is caught by a steward and we are soon back under way.
Bradley Allen, former Premier League striker on BBC Radio London: "Harry Kane would be proud of that finish from Soldado. That was a £26m finish. Roberto take a bow. If Spurs continue on the front foot like this, they can put the tie to bed."
Liverpool left back José Enrique:, external Come on boys!!!
Great start for Tottenham! Paulinho swings in a corner and Roberto Soldado is left unmarked to volley in through a crowd, 1-0 Spurs.
It is a strong side that Brendan Rodgers has named. He clearly wants to do well in the Europa League and he is rewarded for a strong selection as Liverpool forge an early chance. Jordan Ibe, on his European debut, feeds a pass to Daniel Sturridge, who wriggles past a defender and shoots powerfully at the keeper. Good start.
It's the start the hosts were dreading as Xherdan Shaqiri squeezes home an effort to give Inter the lead. Zdravko Kuzmanovic knocked the ball over the top and Shaqiri tried a left foot shot that goalkeeper Craig Gordon blocked back into the forward's path, and he made no mistake second time out with a neat low finish.
All the 20:05 GMT games are just getting under way now...
History suggests Tottenham fans won't be witnessing a defeat tonight. Can Spurs keep up their impressive record against Italian sides?
Liverpool's Steven Gerrard, speaking on ITV1: "I know Demba Ba better than most. He is a top player, he is always a threat and it is very important we keep him as quiet as we can."
Anfield is ready for the start of Liverpool's Europa League adventure. Can they kick it off with a win? The two teams are strolling out of the tunnel to a typically fantastic atmosphere.
BBC Radio 5 live
Jonathan Northcroft, Sunday Times football correspondent, on the Wednesday Night Club on 5 live Sport: "I saw Daniel Sturridge play at Crystal Palace and he was impressive in the sense that he looked rusty to start with and struggled a little bit, but he dug in and ended up playing really, really well - he got better as the game went on and made a real impact in the second half.
"He's certainly looked up to by some of the younger Liverpool players, and he's the leader of a pack of the likes of Raheem Sterling and Jordan Ibe. Sturridge is someone who likes to feel loved and wanted. They missed him so much when he was injured and how he's returned to players and fans who have welcomed him back with open arms.
"For Liverpool to be successful he has to now be a leader. They are losing Steven Gerrard and so they need players like him to now step up."
Burnley defender Steven Reid
Wednesday Night Club, 5 live Sport
"Playing in the Europa League followed by a league game at the weekend is tough. If you haven't a squad who can deal with that then it can be a problem.
"But now they Liverpool have Daniel Sturridge back, and they look a different team. Over the last few weeks they've been quicker on the break and are playing with that pace we saw last season. Maybe when he plays his fellow players play differently, because they know where he's going to be and they can react to his movement.
"It's obviously a massive boost for them that he's back in there."
Will Demba Ba come back to haunt Liverpool? He, of course, scored that goal after Steven Gerrard's slip to damage Liverpool's title hopes last season.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is not thinking about that moment too much, though, saying: "It won't stimulate any bad memories for me. At the time (last April) he scored a goal, which was a good goal, but he has scored many good goals in his career.
"We just see him as a threat that we will pay respect to but nothing more than that. He had a very good period here in England, he is a wonderful player, who has good touch and technique and he scores goals. He has gone to Besiktas and done well."
Tottenham Hotspur:, external The players are out warming up as the stands fill up inside White Hart Lane.
Brendan McCullagh:, external Make no mistake, Everton are contenders for this trophy, really impressed by their performance tonight.
Nick:, external Young Boys can't play against English opposition - First Liverpool thrash them now Everton's turn.
A great win for Everton, can their Premier League rivals follow suit? Liverpool and Tottenham kick-off their last-32 games against Besiktas and Fiorentina respectively in just under 15 minutes.
Europa League holders Sevilla are yet to lose at home to a German side in European competition as they prepare to welcome Borussia Monchengladbach in the round of 32 while Dutch champions Ajax prepare to face Polish opponents for the first time in Europe as they take on Legia Warsaw.
Villarreal are unbeaten in three European home games this season whilst tonight's opponents Salzburg have won all three of their Europa League away fixtures this season.
Russian side Dynamo Moscow will look to extend their 10-game unbeaten run in Europe as they travel to Anderlecht while French Cup winners Guingamp have made it to the knockout stages of European competition for the first time and prepare to host Dynamo Kiev in Brittany.
BBC Scotland's Alasdair Lamont: European nights at Celtic Park this season have lacked the sparkling intensity of recent seasons - the Europa League will do that. But this evening feels different. The prospect of facing a genuine European giant - albeit a slightly diminished one - has increased the sense of anticipation about the stadium and it could be reminiscent of a big Champions League night.
All over and it is more Merseyside misery for the hosts. Everton become the first team to win in Bern since Liverpool in 2012.
