  • Man City remain five points behind Chelsea

  1. Postpublished at 15:48 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2015

Arsenal have everyone back except for Olivier Giroud as Everton try to force an opening. The Gunners look quite happy to let them have the ball, though, as Everton stroke the ball from right to left, before Luke Garbutt fires in a cross that David Ospina punches clear.

  2. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 15:46 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2015

Third and final change for Everton as midfielder Darron Gibson comes on for Gareth Barry.

  3. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 15:45 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2015

Arsenal fans want Theo Walcott on the pitch but the forward stays on the bench for now as Tomas Rosicky comes on for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. Eight minutes to go.

  4. CLOSE!published at 15:44 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2015

Arsenal, though, have a glorious chance for a second that would surely kill the game off as they win possession inside the Everton half and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain runs towards the area with Mesut Ozil in support. Oxlade-Chamberlain slides a pass to the German, who takes too long to shoot and Phil Jagielka is across to deflect the shot over.

  5. YELLOW CARDpublished at 15:41 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2015

A shockingly poor pass by Gabriel Paulista gifts possession to Aaron Lennon midway inside the Arsenal area and Laurent Koscielny goes in heavy to prevent the winger racing through, picking up a yellow as a result. He won't be happy with his defensive partner for forcing him to commit the foul in the first place.

  6. Postpublished at 15:40 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2015

Still no changes for Arsenal as Everton make a second change of the game - Steven Naismith coming on for Muhamed Besic.

This is a good away performance by Everton. They've posed an attacking threat and have also got things mostly right defensively with Arsenal's creative players rarely given a moment's rest.

Alexis Sanchez has the ball on the left, but immediately has two Everton players for company and he can't find a way through. Moments later, Ross Barkley shoots high over for the Toffees.

Ian, Whitley Bay: Re Abdul Said at 51 mins: So Jose Mourinho's Chelsea would have to lose four of their remaining 12 games - 33% of them? Got to admire the guy's optimism (even if one of those matches is at the Emirates)!

Ewan, Portsmouth: Is it possible Arsenal could catch Manchester City and nip second? We have a reasonable fixture list...

  9. CLOSE!published at 15:34 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2015

David Ospina is certainly earning his pay packet today as he denies Everton again. This time, Seamus Coleman gets the better of Kieran Gibbs on the right, cuts the ball back for Aaron Lennon, whose first-time shot is held by Ospina.

Francis Coquelin is made of tough stuff as he shakes off that knock and play is back under way.

There's a break in play as Francis Coquelin is down receiving treatment after a nasty clash of heads with Olivier Giroud. With Everton pressing, losing Coquelin's defensive qualities at this point of the game would be a real blow for Arsenal.

  12. GREAT SAVE!published at 15:29 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2015

Arsenal could certainly do with some magic from Santi Cazorla because Everton are definitely not out of this, only a fine save by David Ospina denying them an equaliser as the Gunners' keeper tips over Romelu Lukaku's fierce drive at the near post.

David Ljunggren: Part of Everton's problem seems to be that Gareth Barry is really slowing down. He runs as if his boots are made of concrete.

Pete Cash: A second goal would be nice...

Beautiful football from Arsenal as they threaten for the first time in this half. Santi Cazorla comes inside from the right, plays a one-two with Olivier Giroud before launching a shot just over.

  16. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 15:24 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2015

And on comes on-loan Tottenham man Aaron Lennon to the predictable sound of boos from Arsenal fans. He replaces Kevin Mirallas.

  17. Postpublished at 15:23 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2015

Ross Barkley is allowed to run at the Arsenal defence and gets to the edge of the area, where Gabriel Paulista makes the decision to stick in a boot and get the ball clear. Aaron Lennon is warming up for the away side.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is having a great game both defensively and offensively and, after setting up Olivier Giroud, he is back in the Arsenal box to deflect away Seamus Coleman's attempted cross.

Everton are enjoying 55% of the possession, surely the pressure will tell eventually?
