First blood in the East Anglia derby goes to the in-form hosts. Norwich midfielder Bradley Johnson powers in a left-footed stinger midway through the first half - that's his third goal in four matches and his 10th of a productive campaign.

  2. CLOSE!published at 14:33 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2015

Everton let Santi Cazorla go for one second and almost pay the price as he races into the Toffees' half, exchanging passes with Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez on the left before the latter crosses for Olivier Giroud in the middle of the area, but his header is just wide. Better from the hosts.

  3. Postpublished at 14:30 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2015

Santi Cazorla has had a hand in six goals in his last five Premier League games and Everton are well aware of the threat he poses. As soon as he gets the ball he has three blue shirts around him and that is further hampering Arsenal's attacking threat which, at the moment, is largely nonexistent.

Shaun, Harrogate: Manuel Pellegrini's insistence on playing 'nice' football is proving very 'nice' for us Chelsea fans. Tactically naive to play 4-4-2 against Barca, then away at Liverpool.

Mesut Ozil loses possession needlessly and Arsenal fans are quick to let their frustrations known with loud groans. So far, this is not the performance they were hoping to see after the Monaco defeat.

  6. Postpublished at 14:24 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2015

Oh dear, this is exactly what Arsene Wenger did not want to see - suicidal defending - and it is Gabriel Paulista who is guilty of it.

He fails to clear with Romelu Lukaku lurking and the big striker steals possession and races through on goal. Arsenal keeper David Ospina is quick off his line to paw the ball away and spare his team-mate's blushes.

  7. 'Most important derby for a decade'published at 14:23 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2015

"It's the most important derby for 10 years," says Ipswich fan Carl Day.

"There's always something on this game, but this is a real biggie," says former Norwich defender Craig Fleming.

There's plenty riding on today's East Anglian derby at Carrow Road. Alex Neil's Norwich are the Championship's in-form team after recording five straight victories, and will move to within a point of an automatic promotion place with a win.

Mick McCarthy's Ipswich side have been inconsistent since the turn of the year, but are still in the automatic promotion race themselves.

Romelu Lukaku has plenty of what Arsenal don't - confidence. He races on to a long ball down the right flank, cuts inside and lets fly with a shot. It is blocked, but the loose ball bounces to Muhamed Besic loitering outside the area but he launches a shot high into the stands. He hasn't scored for Everton, and that effort shows why...

  10. Rodgers raves about relentless Redspublished at 14:21 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2015

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, speaking to Sky Sports: "I have to take my hat off to players. To get back at half four in the early hours of Friday morning - by the time they got to bed it was six, and they had to sleep all of Friday. We then did some light work yesterday, but to come out and play like they did, they were relentless.

"They restricted a top team to just one shot on target and deserve all the praise they will get. The character of this team was questioned at the beginning of this season, but we were just trying to find a rhythm and balance to the team, with little time and lots of new players. It hasn't just happened; they have worked hard, and believed in how they were working."

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain earns Arsenal their first corner of the game. Santi Cazorla swings it in and Everton fail to clear before Alexis Sanchez picks up the ball on the left side of the area. He twists, turns and floats a cross out of play.

  12. Difference was two "beautiful" goals - Pellegrinipublished at 14:16 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2015

Man City manager Manuel PellegriniImage source, Reuters

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini: "It was a close game but Liverpool won because they scored two beautiful goals. But in the first half we lost too many balls, especially in the first 15 minutes. After that we equalised and then hit the post through Aguero. But in the second half we didn't arrive in their box so we tried to change our style of play.

"Playing two up front at Anfield was the best decision. It was a close game and they won the game when we had one striker on. I'm concerned that we are losing the ball too much - pressure is a factor. There is much we must analyse to improve.

On falling five points behind Premier League leaders Chelsea: "It is three points less with one game less. Of course it is difficult to reach the top of table if you lose three points. But we must keep going and try to return to our normal performance and see where it takes us."

Before the Monaco defeat, Arsenal had won their last nine home games in all competitions but they are lacking the sort of swagger they should have with such a record. They look nervy and disjointed, how a goal would settle nerves on the pitch and in the stands.

Arsenal get forward for the first time as Hector Bellerin and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain combine on the right flank before the latter attempts to release Mesut Ozil, but the German had just strayed offside as the pass was made.

Arsenal certainly look like a side lacking a little in confidence as they are struggling to get the ball off Everton and string a few passes together in these early stages. The Toffees have another chance to test the Gunners' backline as Luke Garbutt swings in a free-kick from the right, but it is headed away.

Gabriel Paulista is the man to come in alongside Laurent Koscielny in the heart of the Arsenal defence, which is quickly tested as Ross Barkley surges forward, breaks into the Gunners' area but he is pushed wide and the chance is gone.

There's no time to take a breather as we move straight onto the next Premier League game - Arsenal v Everton.

Per Mertesacker pays the price for his part in what Arsene Wenger called "suicidal" defending in the midweek 3-1 defeat to Monaco as he drops to the bench.

Will Wenger get the response he is after? You'd have to fancy their chances of securing victory today, especially considering Everton's woeful record at the Gunners - the Toffees have won none of their last 20 away matches against Arsenal in all competitions.

Still, plenty of people expected Arsenal to brush aside Monaco on Wednesday, so anything could happen...
