Striker Nicky Clark is recalled to Rangers' starting line-up for the first time since December with Kenny Miller missing out through injury. Also back, from suspension, is captain Lee McCulloch, although I hesitate to suggest that the former Scotland international's return will strengthen the Rangers defence given his recent indifferent form. It is a straight swap for Darren McGregor, who has picked up a knock but does make the bench.

Rangers were many people's pre-season favourites to secure a third league title and promotion in a row. But, barring an unlikely collapse by runaway leaders Hearts, the Glasgow side now appear to be left chasing a play-off place to keep alive their hopes of playing in the Premiership next season.

Rangers are looking to get their promotion challenge back on track, but a victory would take them a point ahead of second-top Hibs with two games in hand.

While Rovers won that Scottish Cup tie at Ibrox, they were thoroughly thumped in their two Championship meetings with Rangers this season - 4-0 at Stark's Park and then 6-1 in Glasgow.

Rovers, in contrast, are unbeaten in seven games, although that victory over Rangers in the Scottish Cup is their only win in their last four games, having drawn the other three.

Rangers are looking to avoid a rare fourth straight defeat, being knocked out of the Scottish League Cup by Celtic, exiting the Scottish Cup at the hands of tonight's opponents then losing third place to Hibernian after the Edinburgh side won 2-0 at Ibrox.

Rovers shocked their more illustrious opponents by heading to Ibrox and winning 2-1 to move into the Scottish Cup quarter-finals on 8 February.
