Eventful, edgy and without doubt a game contested by two sides who desperately want this.

Juventus ahead through Carlos Tevez - he whipped out a child's dummy to celebrate as always. Then Giorgio Chiellini took on the role of a toddler loosing their balance as he slipped and Marco Reus netted.

A jackpot away goal then but Alvaro Morata showed composure to restore a home lead. Frenetic.

We will have two minutes of injury time here. Three goals in the first half. I thought these were meant to be tight affairs.

Tevez to Pogba to Morata - goal. Who needs possession? Dortmund were pulled apart like a Christmas cracker. Tevez, bull-like, fed Pogba in a wide area and his left-foot cross is low and tantalisingly too good for the away defence as Morata applies a side-foot finish from 10 yards. He is unmarked but onside.

Simple and vitally important. Just as I was banging the crisis drum for Juve.

Dortmund are pushing 60% of possession here at the home of Juventus. No mean feat and a corner from Marcel Schmelzer offers their latest threat.

Juventus started brightly, scored but have lost their way and you feel long spells spent without the ball will prove costly. Nuri Sahin is the pass king so far with 97% accuracy.

  6. Key man - Paul Pogbapublished at 20:26 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2015

The former Manchester United midfielder is now a monster of Italian football and with Andrea Pirlo off injured, his side will need even more from him.

Leggy at 6ft 2in, Pogba can maraud forward, cover ground and is still only 21, has two Serie A titles to his name.

The France international has contributed eight goals in 30 club games this season and he will probably not disappoint on the flamboyant hairstyle front either.

Penny for your thoughts Manchester United fans?

Andrea Pirlo is off. The playmaker. The man Juventus so often look for has got a problem and he takes his seat on the bench before a replacement is even on the field.

Roberto Pereyra is scurrying to get ready. Good luck son. Big boots to fill...

Henrikh Mkhitaryan - a target for Liverpool before joining Dortmund - has a dip and forces a panicked save from Gianluigi Buffon. It looked catchable but the Italian elected to flap the ball wide.

Dortmund deserve credit. A goal down early, a meltdown would not have been all too surprising but they look settled and some more good news is on the way for them...

No respite for Blackpool at the bottom of the Championship. Two Jon Toral goals in three minutes have put them 2-0 down at Brentford and staring at defeat number 19 of the season.

In the night's big grudge match, it's Cardiff who have taken the lead at Wigan through Aron Gunnarsson - bad news for Latics boss Malky Mackay, who left Cardiff in acrimonious circumstances. The Cardiff board are reportedly boycotting that match in protest at alleged racism at Wigan.

In League One, it's going with the formbook - Swindon, Preston and Sheffield United, who occupy third, fourth and fifth place in the table, are all 1-0 up after half an hour.

The last time Joe Hart lined up against Luis Suarez the Uruguayan netted twice past him to push England to the World Cup brink.

    Suarez is at it again.

The former Liverpool striker has nipped in to convert Jordi Alba's cross at the end of a sparkling passing Barcelona move. Two unanswered away goals for the Catalans and this tie might be cooked inside the first half hour.

  11. How do you solve a problem like the Champions League?published at 20:21 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2015

Domestically we hear of Manchester City's strife in the Champions League versus their success in the English game.

Juventus can share in their frustration. The Italian champions - on course for a fourth successive title in Serie A - have only reached the quarter-finals once since 2006.

"Our group is strong and has grown steadily over these past few years," central defender Giorgio Chiellini says. "Now we also want to show how far we've come on the European scene."

Chiellini will hang his head in shame when he goes in at the break. His slip gifted the Dortmund equaliser.

Lukasz Piszczek has been clutching his leg after rolling around on the floor and he needs assistance to even make it to the tunnel. Night over for the right-back so here comes Matthias Ginter from the bench.

Borussia Dortmund look vulnerable in the seconds that follow any loss of possession. Mats Hummels and Marcel Schmelzer knock the ball around at the back, finding Marco Reus in midfield but when a ball forward is cut out, away come Juventus again to counter with pace.

Marco Reus was always likely to be Dortmund's go-to man tonight.

The German international - consistently linked with a move away - has four goals in his last four games.

In 16 appearances this season, he has nine goals.

  16. CLOSE!published at 20:15 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2015

Andrea Pirlo whips in yet another Juventus corner - number four already - and it swings in the air like a badly controlled kite to land on Leonardo Bonucci's head five yards out. He is pressured and can only head over. A good chance.

Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri spoke of not conceding before kick off. His heart must be smashing out of his chest here as this game is being played openly and with tempo. It has a lovely flow.

Dortmund press fantastically well to force problems but when Juve break through the hounding they look dangerous.

  18. CLOSE!published at 20:10 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2015

Big swinger from right to left...that's going out of play...tireless running by Carlos Tevez keeps it alive and Alvaro Morata heads wide. It's a header from 15 yards. You'd need a head like stone to net from there.

From Andy in Armagh: It's hard to believe that Borussia Dortmund 3-1 Juventus Champions League final was 18 years ago! That was the first Champions League final I remember, and I still can't believe that great Juve team lost.

  20. Football League updatepublished at 20:09 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2015

The first goal of the night in the Football League went the way of Championship leaders Derby. They took the lead against Charlton thanks to a close-range left-footed effort from Jeff Hendrick after nine minutes, and Jesse Lingard has just made it 2-0.

Huddersfield have also made a good start in their mid-table clash against Reading - Harry Bunn has given the Terriers the early advantage in that one with a header.

And Derby aren't the only table-toppers who have made a lightning start - League One leaders Bristol City are 1-0 up, courtesy of Luke Freeman's early strike against Doncaster.
