A chance for Accies at long last after Nigel Hasselbaink earns a corner. However, Mikey Devlin is unable to find the target with his header.
Two very good saves from Michael McGovern in quick succession keep the score down following strikes from Virgil van Dijk and Adam Matthews.
"At 0-0 and even 1-0, Accies were still looking sharp. At 2-0, one or two are beginning to look a bit leggy."
Having gone close seconds before, Stefan Johansen goes one better as he pounces after Accies goalkeeper Michael McGovern can only parry Virgil van Dijk's stinging shot.
Stefan Johansen, who has been looking tired after his fine run of form, nevertheless goes close as his effort strikes the post.
Busy goalkeeper Michael McGovern prevents Celtic extending their lead with a good save from John Guidetti.
Celtic manager Ronny Deila responds to that goal by bringing off James Forrest, the injury-troubled winger looking a bit ring rusty, and replacing him with Stuart Armstrong.
Just as Accies start to show a bit more ambition, Virgil van Dijk breaks forward, ghosts past a couple of challenges and, when the ball falls to Kris Commons, the man who has returned to the side following injury volleys home the opening goal from six yards out.
Accies make another change, with Ali Gordon coming off and former Rangers youth midfielder Darren Lyon coming on.
It is still Celtic doing the pressing, but they have yet to create a clear-cut chance since half-time.
Dougie Kinnear: "If Hamilton get any sort of result today, it will be superb! When's the last time we had a top of table six-pointer in March?" The neutrals, as well as Aberdeen fans, would certainly enjoy that more than Celtic's support ahead of that meeting of the top two a week today.
Will those changes to both sides have an impact as Celtic look to go three points clear at the top of the table while Accies look to end a run of seven games without a win?
A change for Celtic too at half time with Adam Matthews replacing Jason Denayer, with Efe Ambrose moving to centre-back from right-back. No news if that was an injury, but you would imagine that would be the case given the on-loan Manchester City defender's quality.
Accies defender Ziggy Gordon was apparently sick at the break after taking a knock to the head in the first half. Midfielder Louis Longridge is preparing to come on as his replacement, so that will require a bit of re-organisation by player-boss Martin Canning.

"Defensive organisation and concentration have enabled Hamilton to thwart Celtic. The champions have dominated possession, playing with typically composed passing, but once the visitors came to terms with Celtic's overlapping full-backs, they held a strong defensive line. A lack of intensity has blunted Celtic so that their control of the game has been benign so far."
"It is a bit flat for Celtic. They have had lots of possession - up to 75-80% - but they've got to turn possession into goals. They just need a goal to spark them off."
Half way and job done for Accies so far as they have managed to hold Celtic to a goal-less draw. They haven't threatened much themselves, but they obviously have a game plan and would no doubt settle for a point now.
