Mo in Manchester: The only problem for me is that Rodgers plays this all out attacking football, but almost every side just comes and sits back now. That's when we end up looking average with no plan B and in three seasons surely we should've have a second plan.

  2. GREAT SAVE!published at 20:32 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March 2015

A testing and fruitless 30 minutes for Liverpool are summed up as Philippe Coutinho clips a nice ball over the top but Daniel Sturridge's first touch only takes the ball away from goal and out for a goal kick.

At the other end, the game's stand-out attacker Bafetimbi Gomis is sharp as he exchanges passes with Wayne Routledge and drills low from 20 yards, forcing a good save from Simon Mignolet. One handed, Mignolet was stretched and solid there.

Philippe Coutinho with one of those dipping, bending efforts. The kind good enough to beat Manchester City. Lukasz Fabianski clasps it though and holds the ball out in his arms as if he's proud of his achievement. We know you have it Lukasz. Well played.

  4. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:26 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March 2015

Raheem Sterling is the second Liverpool player into the book - he follows his captain Jordan Henderson. The youngster is rarely beaten for sleight of foot or pace, but Wayne Routledge does both and a little tug on the shirt ends his momentum.

  5. CLOSE!published at 20:25 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March 2015

Jordi Amat is at the heart of Swansea's defence tonight - his first start of the season - and his cool pass at the back starts an attack which ends in the Liverpool six-yard box.

Gomis has a clear sight of goal, does he? No. Blocked by a mix of defenders and the loose ball trickles across the six-yard box towards Gylfi Sigurdsson but out rushes Simon Mignolet like a sprinter from the blocks to swipe the ball away.

Swansea have had the better of the opening quarter. They look intent, like they want to hurt Liverpool and inflict a first defeat on the visitors of 2015. Everyone wants to end a record don't they?

  7. CLOSE!published at 20:21 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March 2015

Liverpool find the target for the first time in the match as Adam Lallana picks up a Daniel Sturridge knock down 25 yards from goal to fire a crisp volley at Fabianski. It's a routine save but a save none the less.

Swansea are having none of it though and come out fighting, Bafetimbi Gomis at the back post... header... cleared in the six-yard box again by Martin Skrtel. The Liverpool defender has been well placed twice to nod efforts clear with that iron of a head of his.

  8. Ouch!published at 20:19 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March 2015

Swansea bettering the early exchanges with around 60% of the ball. They look purposeful while Liverpool are embodying an experienced old boxer, sizing up just what they face and how to go about handling it.

Philippe Coutinho has got a sore one, he was caught by Kyle Naughton on the touchline.

  9. CLOSE!published at 20:16 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March 2015

The Reds have now gone eight hours without conceding in a Premier League away game and they show just why as Joe Allen makes a critical interception.

The deep midfielder has to be a flash in the box as Gomis beats Emre Can to close down on goal but there is Allen with a sliding challenge. Danger not over, Ki Sung-Yueng heads at goal but Martin Skrtel heads clear in the six-yard box.

Ashley Williams intercepts a long ball and traps it like he is Franco Baresi as the home side attack with a direct long ball at Bafetimbi Gomis. Martin Skrtel has to take robust action by intercepting and hacking for a corner. The big striker made his muscle felt there and the ease with which he caused trouble will please Swansea.

Martin Skrtel, Alberto Moreno, Mamadou Sakho, Joe Allen, they all get a touch as Liverpool knock the ball around without threat at the back. This is going nowhere is it? Yes. The home side snuff out the danger on the edge of their own box. Still, that will do the Reds' possession percentage no harm. A long spell.

Jonjo Shelvey ensures Swansea don't have the same luxury. One of his raking, cross-field to no one specials.

  13. CLOSE!published at 20:08 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March 2015

Adam Lallana injects some momentum with a dribble, into Raheem Sterling who looks for shooting space but can't find it... Daniel Sturridge can...wide. A dragged effort from 20 yards dribbles wide of the left-hand post.

"There's more pressure on Liverpool - they're pushing to get into the top four. They've got to come to this very tough place, with a terrific atmosphere. Swansea are a good footballing side. But I think this match is a very difficult one to call tonight.

"It's interesting to see how Liverpool have started. They're pressing Swansea high up the pitch, and you have to do that. You can't let Swansea play."

  15. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:06 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March 2015

Jordan Henderson has the legs for some serious coverage of grass and they gallop to tackle Neil Taylor as the Swansea full-back attacks down the left but Henderson comes up short and hacks his target down.

Clear booking. In comes the delivery from wide and Simon Mignolet paws at it like a cat at the Christmas tree. He gets enough.

Pass, pass, pass, Swansea's midfield diamond operates with some distinction early on but there is no cutting edge. Wayne Routledge tries to play a clever flick pass, that's troubling no one. Simon Mignolet's goal kick is troubling the front row of fans though. A slice.

  17. Postpublished at 20:02 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March 2015

"Nice one, thanks for that mate."

That's what Lukasz Fabianski must be thinking as Ashley Williams gives him an absolute rotter of a backpass. It results in a Liverpool corner but Martin Skrtel heads over. No second goal of the season for him.

  18. KICK-OFFpublished at 20:00 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March 2015

"And we were singing, hymns and arias..."

The Swansea fans make their vocal range known as the referee prepares to whistle and he does. We are off.

The last time the Reds went six away games without conceding a goal came in 1972, with Emlyn Hughes (left) marshalling things at the back.

Tonight Liverpool can reach half a dozen trips on the road without leaking a goal. The only other time the club achieved the run came in 1965-66.

Here come the players, out of the tunnel, through a tunnel of applauding ball boys with flags and into the Swansea night.

Let's get the friendly handshakes out of the way and have a match full of incident please gents. The surface looks good but back inside, managers Brendan Rodgers and Garry Monk embrace. They look like they don't want to let go. An old tale or two is exchanged, while back out on the turf, the Swansea PA system blares out: "Welcome to the main event... let's get ready to rumble."

    Let's.
