Dundee United win a corner, with Celtic a bit sloppy at the back. However, not for the first time today, the delivery into the box is poor from Jackie McNamara's side.
The teams are back for more as Dundee United get the second half started.
BBC Sportsound pundit Billy Dodds
"United are still right in it; they need something to happen for them. Jackie [McNamara] will be telling them 'same again'. Ronny Deila will be telling Celtic 'we have to get that second goal'."
"Not for me. The linesman is in the perfect position to see it," says BBC One Scotland pundit John Hartson.
"It's a definite penalty," former Dundee United striker Kevin Gallacher.
Pat Nevin makes it 2-1 in favour of a spot-kick.
"We've seen softer penalties given this season. We saw a softer penalty given last weekend," adds Tom English on BBC Radio Scotland.
Ali_M on Twitter: "It would have been soft had it been given" Does that mean there was an infringement? #bbcscotfootball #scottishleaguecupfinal"
Football pundit Pat Nevin on BBC One Scotland
"Ryan Dow has looked dangerous for Dundee United, with a couple of runs in behind, but manager Jackie McNamara will want more from the wider areas."
Former Celtic striker John Harton on BBC One Scotland
"I'm disappointed that Celtic are not out of sight by now. They have dominated but it's only 1-0 and Dundee United are still in this game."
The teams are separated by Kris Commons' 28th-minute goal, scored while Dundee United were temporarily down to 10 men. The treble remains very much on for Celtic.
Scorer Kris Commons keeps his eyes on a dropping ball and gives it a good thump from 22 yards but Dundee United goalkeeper Radoslaw Cierzniak is right behind it.
James in Giffnock: "Jackie McNamara taken to long to decide on Sean Dillon. Celtic took full advantage."
Jack, Edinburgh: "Once again a referee bottles it. A clear penalty. Why don't we all just give up and go home."
Leigh Griffiths has a wee mump at the officials after his leg is clipped by Jaroslaw Fojut. It looked accidental and I'm not sure the contact was in the box, where the Celtic striker landed.
Robert Simpson on Twitter: "Seen penalties given for less... #DUFC #CFC #LeagueCupFinal #bbcscotfootball"
Andrew Priestley on Twitter: "Commons has been Celtic's best player for a while now, he was always going to be a danger. It's all uphill for United now. #bbcscotfootball"
BBC Sportsound pundit Pat Bonner: "I'm not so sure, I think the referee got this one right."
BBC Sportsound pundit Billy Dodds: "The question's got to be asked. Brown's taken a risk, that's for sure."
Can you guess which of today's teams the pundits used to play for?
Dundee United fans are outraged as Ryan Dow goes sprawling to the turf after getting to the ball ahead of Scott Brown. Did he get a wee nudge in the back there? Referee Bobby Madden doesn't think so.
Kris Commons is in the mood after that opening goal and again he does enough to make room for a shot on the edge of the box and it needs a fingertip save from Radoslaw Cierzniak to keep it out.
First booking of the day goes to Ryan McGowan as he clatters into Celtic skipper Scott Brown in the middle of the park.
IBlair Spittal is all ready to come on for United, with the fourth official holding up the board. But, wait a minute, here comes Sean Dillon trotting gingerly out of the tunnel and he tells the youngster to sit back down.
Remember, United are still down to 10 men, with defender Sean Dillon off the park.
Anthony Stokes clips in a cross from the left and Radoslaw Cierzniek reacts brilliantly to push Kris Commons' deflected strike on to the post but the Celtic playmaker is first to the loose ball, smashing it in on the angle.
Dundee United captain Sean Dillon hobbles off the park for treatment after a sore-looking shin-on-shin clash with Virgil Van Dijk.
