The Hearts squad had a few shandies on the evening of Rangers' win at Hibs but head coach Robbie Neilson has been working them hard as ever since. The rookie boss has deployed double and triple training sessions this season and that extra work has paid off handsomely.

Rangers have started brightly here and are unbeaten since interim manager Stuart McCall took over from Kenny McDowall, with two victories following two uncertain draws.

However, it may be premature to suggest they are fully back on track since three goals in the last seven minutes put extra gloss on a 4-1 home win over Cowdenbeath last time out.

That set-piece looked like a rehearsed number with Nicky Law complaining about being sent back into a defensive role before wheeling round to get into a good shooting position.

Early corner to Rangers and it's knocked out to Nicky Law on the edge of the penalty box and the midfielder's thumping shot is well held by Neil Alexander.

Rangers form a guard of honour for champions Hearts - and the visitors get a sporting round of applause from the home players. The welcome from the home support is not so friendly. There are around 2,000 fans from Edinburgh at Ibrox and they are making quite a racket.

The Hearts boss also confirms that full-back Adam Eckersley will not be offered a new deal.

"What we have done is get the belief and morale up a bit and we have to go into this one in a positive frame of mind. Hearts have won 26 out of 30 games, which is magnificent and I think this could be a good, open game."

Remember this? Hearts' visit to Ibrox on 16 January was abandoned at 0-0 after 25 minutes because of heavy snow.

Back then, Hearts were 13 points clear at the top. Now, that lead has been doubled and they arrive in Glasgow as the Championship champions.
