How did that stay out!? The best chance of the game by far as Liverpool go close in quick succession. First, Mario Balotelli's shot is blocked, the loose ball dribbles out to Philppe Coutinho, whose low shot is kept out by the sprawling hand of Boaz Myhill. The danger is not dealt with though as Jordan Henderson tries to pounce but West Brom somehow scramble clear. So close.
Once again, West Brom's best efforts are coming from set-pieces and Liverpool concede a free-kick 35 yards from goal. It is too far out for Darren Fletcher to have a pop at goal from so instead he sends the ball in for Gareth McAuley, whose header drifts wide of the far post.
Craig Dawson goes in strongly on Raheem Sterling and the Liverpool forward is sent tumbling to the floor. A few nervy glances from the Liverpool fans as he grimaces with pain, but he is up and OK to continue.
Magnus in London: Even though Balotelli has been poor for us this season, I can't help but feel that he might do something amazing every time he has the ball.
Muhammad in Birmingham: Based on the money spent and the season so far, I think it's time for Klopp for the Kop.
Mario Balotelli had one of Liverpool's better chances in the first half with an instinctive strike over the bar, but Brendan Rodgers will be hoping for more from him in this half. The striker had just 20 touches, only goalkeeper Simon Mingolet had fewer.
We are back under way. Can we have some goals please?
Gus Tracey: It's a cop out to throw the blame on Balotelli when Liverpool aren't playing well, he thrives off a strike partner
After 45 minutes we are still waiting for our first shot on target. Have fans at other games been treated to more goals than we have? Here are the scores from around the grounds.
This has not been a happy hunting ground for Liverpool and unless there is a vast improvement in their attacking play in the second half, it looks unlikely they will pick up three points.
Still, things can only get better. Surely...
Dan in London: Please for the good of sanity just end the season now. We (Liverpool) are atrocious.
Match of the Day commentator Tony Husband: "Liverpool have been unable to turn that possession into chances. They have dominated possession, dictated play but it is goalless."
One minute of added time. Get the kettle on, I can't see a goal before the break...
Is Glen Johnson playing for his Liverpool future? It doesn't look like it as he gets to the byeline and opts against the cross to instead play the ball back to Jordan Henderson, who curls the ball straight into the hands of Boaz Myhill.
Eloise Crop: Liverpool need to sell Ballotelli, he doesn't work hard enough and has no real desire to play for such a great team.
Kaushik Gorai: Frustration can be seen in Rodgers' eyes. And his actions on the sideline says it all about Liverpool's season.
Liverpool win their third corner of the game, which Philippe Countinho swings into the area where Jordan Henderson is adjudged to have pushed Darren Fletcher and the resultant free-kick for West Brom creates the biggest cheer of the day.
Yep, it is that kind of game...
Liverpool are almost caught off guard as Saido Berahino uses his pace to chase after a long ball towards the right side of the Reds' area. He gets there, cuts a pass back for Craig Gardner but his radar is a bit off, not for the first time today, as he drives a ball over the heads of everyone inside the area and out of play.
A rare foray forward for West Brom as Craig Gardner gets the ball midway inside the Liverpool area. He has acres of space and scampers forward, gets a bit excited and launches a shot well, well wide.
At the other end, Mario Balotelli is not far off with a chance from nothing, swinging his boot at a loose ball on the edge of the area and it flies just over.
We have had a whopping five shots in total so far, none on target. So, about that stat I mentioned about the last 0-0 at the Hawthorns between these two being in 1968...[see entry at 1 mins]
...Steven Gerrard takes it...lifts the ball over the wall and...over the bar. Just over, mind.
Brendan Rodgers scribbles down some notes.
