"Managers can enjoy this situation, but they must be calm. At the tail end of a season some people can boil over in terms of emotions. The manager has to keep calm, be prepared. And he must have a good chairman, because the financial loss, if you don't make it and when expectations were so high, can be great."

"Bournemouth's fans have travelled from far and wide to be at the game tonight, with one supporter - Paul Scott - flying in from Russia to watch his beloved Cherries. He's backed a Bournemouth victory and he's right to be confident with Eddie Howe's side needing one more goal for the most ever away from home in a 46-game second tier season. In short, they've been rampant away from home."

Fans of leaders Bournemouth cannot get enough of their team's promotion charge, with 4,000 making the 150 mile round trip to Reading. "I can sense the supporters are feeling good, but it's my job to take myself away from that and focus on the work," says Cherries boss Eddie Howe.

"It's just good to see the Bournemouth fans enjoying themselves after so many years of worrying about their football club's future."

Brentford boss Mark Warburton says his side are in a mini league of four teams for two play-off spaces. The Bees start seventh - level on points with sixth-placed Ipswich but with an inferior goal difference. "A neutral will look at it as two mini leagues of four at the top," added Warburton., external

"There will be two teams in the play-offs from four. Derby have a similar run to ourselves. Wolves play Middlesbrough and then play Ipswich and points have to be dropped.

"It might be 80 points from the play-offs, which is incredible, but if that is what it is, that is what it is. We are capable of achieving 83 points, that will be enough."

Eight Championship teams still dreaming of playing in the Premier League. But which club will be best equipped to stay in the top-tier and why? Would Bournemouth or Brentford stand a chance? Have Derby learnt their lesson from last time when they were relegated from the top-flight on 11 points? And which players will shine on the Premier League stage following the success of Burnley's Danny Ings and QPR's Charlie Austin? Can Bournemouth's Callum Wilson do the business. Has Middlesbrough winger Albert Adomah got the pace to trouble top-flight defences?

Two points separating the top four, nine points between the top eight, four games remaining...the scramble to win a Premier League place could not be more exciting.

Seven of the top eight are all in action on a busy night at both ends of the table.

Away from the Championship, Bristol City can win promotion from League One while Shrewsbury could secure a place in the third-tier.

    Championship top six 14 April

This time six years ago Bournemouth were contemplating life in the Conference after a 1-0 home defeat to Brentford left them one point above the League Two relegation zone. The Cherries won their last three league games to avoid disaster and have not looked back since.

Victory at FA Cup semi-finalists Reading later could leave Eddie Howe's Championship leaders with a five point automatic promotion cushion heading into the last three games.

Slip up and Norwich, Watford and Middlesbrough are ready to knock the Cherries off the top.
