Brighton are not here to make up the numbers. Joe Bennett flashes another chance wide from distance. The hosts have started like a team chasing promotion - not anchored 20th in the table.

That was a big chance for Troy Deeney. Had that gone in then the Hornets would be four points clear at the top of the 'as it stands' table.

Four straight league wins, unbeaten in the last eight away games. Impressive form from Watford coming into this but they have yet to demonstrate why they are gunning for promotion.

Early nerves on show from those in Watford's colours. Brighton have made the better start and should really be in the lead. Chris O'Grady should have tested Heurelho Gomes at the very least.

Brighton aren't hanging around, Lightning start by the hosts as Chris O'Grady has a 15-yard shot blocked before Dale Stephens tries to wiggle free inside the Hornets penalty area.

The game is under way after a minute's silence in memory of those who lost their lives in the Bradford City stadium fire in 1985.

Around 3,000 Hornets fans have made their way from Hertfordshire in the hope of a promotion party. All the noise is coming from the away end as the teams get ready for kick-off. Is this going to be a day to remember for Watford?

Calculator? Tick. Abacas? Tick. Actually, the maths is quite simple for Watford. They will be promoted if they beat Brighton and other results, later in the day, go their way. Should they win and Middlesbrough lose and Norwich fail to win, then the first promotion from the Championship will be confirmed. Simple.

It hasn't been a good season for Brighton, who reached the play-offs last term. It is pretty remarkable that Watford find themselves on the brink of the Premier League after the behind-the-scenes-chaos there earlier this season. Former Chelsea midfielder Slavisa Jokanovic is the Hornets' fourth manager this term. They started with Beppe Sannino but he resigned on 31 August amid reports of an unhappy squad. Oscar Garcia was appointed on 2 September but he quit for health reasons on 29 September. That paved the way for Billy McKinlay but he lasted just a few days before Jokanovic's appointment on 7 October.

Sheffield Wednesday make four changes at Hillsborough. Keiren Westwood is back in goal in place of Chris Kirkland, while Marnick Vermijl, Jacques Maghoma and Jose Semedo come in as Kamil Zayatte, Sam Hutchinson and Filipe Joaquim Melo Silva drop out.

There's just one change for Leeds as Gaetano Berardi returns in place of Billy Sharp. Aidan White is on the bench after almost nine months out with a serious foot injury.

So what are Watford's promotion rivals up to today? Well, Middlesbrough, level on points with second-placed Bournemouth, will be backed by a huge away following at Fulham, while Norwich, fourth in the table and two points off automatic promotion, are also away at struggling Rotherham. Bournemouth do not play until Monday when they host Neil Lennon's Bolton.

Big action up in Yorkshire this lunchtime too as troubled Leeds make the short journey to Sheffield Wednesday, two teams with nothing to play for but pride. Leeds are looking to avoid a sixth straight league defeat while Wednesday are unbeaten in their last three matches. We'll bring you regular updates from Hillsborough.
