Havant & Waterlooville's fans are currently proving themselves to be the most knowledgeable in the country as they sit top of the BBC Sport predictor league table after the opening seven games. Burnley may have been relegated yesterday but their fans are showing the best knowledge of any Premier League supporter base, in 11th place overall.

Sunderland fans had topped the predictor league after yesterday's opening Premier League match, with many of their fans' optimistic predictions that their team was going to win 2-0 at Everton proving correct, although they have now slipped down to 36th, five places behind Newcastle United. If it is a sign for the real-life Premier League relegation battle, Hull City are currently below them both in 102nd place.

"Newcastle have to stop talking and writing letters. It was a terrible game.

"John Carver changed formation, went 4-2-3-1, with Jack Colback and Ryan Taylor to protect Fabricio Coloccini, who was a liability at Leicester last week, and it worked.

"This is the best it has been in nine games. That is how bad it has been. I am fed up hearing about this and that. Just get on with playing football."

    stats

"An incredible result for Sunderland. Of those at the bottom, they were under the most pressure because of their last couple of games. These were the games Sunderland had to win. Dick Advocaat got it wrong with his tactics in the first half because Jermain Defoe and Connor Wickham almost played as full backs - making it easy for Everton to dominate.

"In the second half Defoe went up front with Danny Graham and Wickham in behind, and Everton couldn't get the same control."

"There are three key things that Nigel Pearson has done. Bringing in Robert Huth has settled down those next to him, he reads the game so well.

"Reason two is the position of the wing-backs. He is being brave and bold with Marc Albrighton and Jeff Schlupp. He has been so positive as a manager.

"Reason three, they have goals in the team, Riyad Mahrez was the difference on Saturday. Nigel Pearson deserves massive credit."

"Burnley didn't invest. When you come up the biggest difference is in the final third. With the goals scored they are bottom, with shots per goal they are bottom. If they come up next year, they will be thinking maybe we need to invest more in that final third.

"They are building. I admire everything they have done, but maybe next time they come up they will be better prepared. I think it is a miracle they got up and managed to beat the likes of Manchester City this season. Sean Dyche should stay and see the job through."

The battle to stay in the Premier League is shaping up to be a "grandstand finish", according to West Brom manager Tony Pulis.

The Baggies are safe following their draw at Newcastle on Saturday, but just three points separate four teams in and around the bottom three.

With two games remaining, Hull, in 18th, are two points adrift of Newcastle and Sunderland, but the Black Cats have a game in hand. A point further clear are Leicester, who have won six of their last seven matches.

Above them, Aston Villa's top flight future is still unclear.
