  3. The greatest fairy tale in sport?published at 19:07 British Summer Time 27 April 2015

    Exaggeration isn't uncommon in football.

The word legend is banded around like confetti, goals are regularly described as the best strike ever, while fans often sing about their side being "by far the greatest team the world has ever seen."

There is no stretching the truth though when it comes to the Cherries' rise to the brink of the Premier League.

The world fairytale has rarely been so apt in football?

No Bournemouth fans, this isn't a dream.

Pinch yourselves all you like but win this evening against Bolton and you can effectively start planning your trips to Old Trafford, Anfield and Stamford Bridge.

Okay, mathematically Middlesbrough could still catch you on the final day of the season but, with Boro currently 16 goals worse off, victory will secure the Cherries Premier League football for the first time in their history.

Excited? Good. Live text all the way.

    Picture the scene.

It is August 2008, Bournemouth have been declared insolvent for the second time in as many years and start the season on -17 points in League Two. They are £4m in debt and begin the campaign with an uninspiring 1-1 draw at home to Gillingham in front of little more than 5,000 fans.

Now, fast forward less than eight years and the Cherries are on the verge of the Premier League.

    Football eh?
