Tom Heaton beats Gabby Agbonlahor to the ball, then quickly sets up a rapid break that Jed Steer gets to just ahead of a frustrated Sam Vokes.
Jed Steer has a moment to forget - the young keeper comes out of his box to volley a loose ball clear, but he shanks it way off to the left into the crowd. Luckily for him, Burnley fail to take advantage at the throw in, then Villa break and Christian Benteke fails with an attempt at a volley.
Villa are back on the front foot straight away, with Christian Benteke giving Jason Shackell the runaround on the right, before squaring the ball towards Gabby Agbonlahor - but Tom Heaton is on the money again, diving at his feet at the near post.
They're under way again, with no more replacements as yet.
There's only one Tim Sherwood - or is there?
So Burnley stay ahead thanks to the brilliance of their keeper, having taken an early lead through Danny Ings. Villa have threatened but look vulnerable when their relegated opponents counter-attack.
Heaton swallows a Cleverley cross in injury time as Villa press unsuccessfully for an equalizer.
Westwood is denied by a brilliant save from Heaton, his right-footed volley on the turn being tipped over at full length by the flying Burnley stopper.
Fancy footwork from Charles N'Zogbia on the left allows him to feed Ashley Westwood, who hits a well-struck shot over Tom Heaton's bar.

Final Score
"Burnley are going down but Danny Ings is probably going to be playing in the Premier League himself next year."
Villa are having the better of things, but you wouldn't say they are in control. Burnley look threatening on the break, and they are enjoying the comfort of that early goal.
Benteke is thwarted again, this time by Tom Heaton who parries a low diving header around his near post. Burnley's goal is under siege at the moment.
Christian Benteke goes close for Villa, neatly chesting down a Charles N'Zogbia cross before drilling the ball goalwards only to see Jason Shackell deflect it wide.
Barnes is back - for about 10 seconds, he collapses just by the touchline and limps off, this time for good. That's his season over with, the beach beckons. He's replaced by Sam Vokes.
Delph out-jumps Barnes, but lands on top of the Burnley forward, who looks to have hurt his knee.
Fredrick Ulvestad marks his first Burnley start with a yellow card for hauling back Jack Grealish.
Fabian Delph needs treatment after colliding with Boyd - it's worrying stuff with the cup final less than a week away but the Villa skipper eventually trots back on, a little gingerly.
Great work from George Boyd on the right flank sees the ball arrive with Danny Ings, but the goalscorer fluffs his lines, driving his shot over on the half-volley from inside the area.
Time for one last selfie before the return to the Championship for this Burnley fan.
