Ashley Barnes takes a quick breather after being hurt by Ashley Westwood's high challenge, but he's back into the fray after a brief pause in the game.
Ron Vlaar goals are almost as frequent as Halley's Comet, and he's spurned the chance to get Villa level, smashing the ball over the corner of post and bar after it fell nicely to him on the edge of the box.
Better from Villa, with Agbonlahor racing through to a loose ball, but keeper Tom Heaton is quick enough to hoof it clear.
Leandro Bacuna is a frequent Villa outlet on the right, constantly seeking out Christian Benteke but this time he sees Michael Keane nod his cross away.
The game has resumed its pre-goal pattern, with Villa probing away while Burnley soak the pressure up. Tom Cleverley and Jack Grealish are at the heart of things but there's no end product as yet.
Burnley go ahead through Danny Ings, who gets up to Ashley Barnes' nodded ball from the left of the area, Ings' own header looping wide of Jed Steer.
Villa are generally on the front foot with Gabby Agbonlahor already hassling Michael Keane a good deal.
Villa's first threatening move is from a free kick on the left, but the ball drifts harmlessly over and out for a goal kick.
The impressively bearded Nathan Baker hauls down Ashley Barnes to concede an early free kick, which Kieran Tripper drills straight at Jed Steer for a comfortable first top-flight save.
Burnley get the game under way.
The customary hand shakes and shoulder slaps are exchanged between the two coaching teams, and we are all set.
"Onwards, to Wembley!" shouts a Villa banner in the stands. Just don't mention Southampton is clearly the order of the day...
The teams are lining up in the tunnel, with Villa being introduced to their mascots for the walk out onto the pitch.
Sean Dyche admitted a couple of days ago that striker Danny Ings is expected to leave Burnley this summer, but the player himself would not be drawn on where during a pre-match interview recorded when the teams arrived at Villa Park.
"It's important that I focus on today's game and as soon as that's over I'll sit down with my agent and go over what to do," Ings said, playing the kind of dead bat that England could do with at Lord's right now.

Match of the Day commentator
"Sunday's game, I suspect, will be played in a typical end-of-season carnival atmosphere; Villa fans warming up their vocal chords for Wembley, and Burnley's support showing appreciation for a season in which they, their players and their dignified, impressive young manager might have fallen short of survival but won themselves plenty of friends."
Dan Hayes: Sherwood has decided to play without a back 4 after last week's debacle.
Tim Sherwood makes three changes from the side that started that 6-1 thrashing by Southampton last week, with Jed Steer making his Premier League debut for Villa. He replaces Shay Given in goal while Nathan Baker and Gabriel Agbonlahor also come in. Given does not make the bench - is he being rested for his customary cup appearance, in the final next weekend at Wembley?
Sean Dyche brings in Michael Keane and Fredrik Ulvestad for Burnley's farewell to the Premier League. Ulvestad, a Norwegian midfielder who joined the Clarets in March, makes his first Premier League start after coming on as a sub against Stoke last week.
Villa XI: Steer, Baker, Vlaar, Bacuna, Cleverley, Agbonlahor, Westwood, Delph, Benteke, N'Zogbia, Grealish.
Burnley XI: Heaton; Trippier, Shackell (c), Keane, Mee; Arfield, Jones, Ulvestad, Boyd; Barnes; Ings.
Aston Villa are safe from relegation, although last week's thrashing at Southampton threatened that for a while, and they will be thinking about next weekend's FA Cup final, while Burnley are saying goodbye to the Premier League after just one year back in the top flight.
