"I think Steve Bruce will be relatively pleased. Hull have been on the front foot and other than Wayne Rooney's chance that clipped the top of the bar, Manchester United haven't really got in behind."

"The encouraging thing for Hull is that they are taking the game to United. It's all come a bit too little too late. If you are Man United player, today's match does matter, you are fighting to play in that side."

Constant singing of Manchester United's new chant about George Best, 'Spirit in the sky'. Been going non-stop so far.

We all thought Tom Huddlestone was going to strike that one from distance, but instead plays a smart ball into the box to David Meyler. It's scrambled away for a corner, which Michael Dawson can't head on target. Entertaining start to this game.

Hull earn a free-kick around 30 yards out from Victor Valdes's goal. Tom Huddlestone standing over it...

Ahmed Elmohamady involved again, clashing with Angel Di Maria as both players went for the ball. Neither player looking too clever at the moment. The Argentine holding his stomach, the Egyptian holding...his sensitive area.

Ahmed Elmohamady breaks the offside line and goes clear. He lofts the ball over the onsrushing Victor Valdes, but United clear the ball. Almost something there for the home side.

United looking to take control of the match now, with their usual passing style of play. They're popping it off to each other nicely. United fans are in good voice, Hull fans pensive.

At the other end, United almost take the lead. Captain Wayne Rooney finds space at the edge of the box, before firing a rasping drive which beats Steve Harper and clips the top of the crossbar.

    Final Score

"I have got a sneaky feeling for Steve Bruce and Hull. If it starts to go their way and they get a goal, suddenly for the Newcastle players mouths will go dry. Don't forget the fans will be telling them what is going on. And all sorts of things can happen over these next 90 minutes."

An early chance for Hull. Robbie Brady puts a nice ball into the box, met by front man Dame N'Doye but the header is straight into the hands of Victor Valdes.

A slow drum is beating inside the KC Stadium, almost like a heartbeat. Will the Premier league blood still be pumping for Hull at the end of the game?

Hull City are in their usual orange and black kits, while United have the white away strip on. Michael Dawson and Wayne Rooney lead their respective sides out.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal: "I expect that Hull will play with five defenders so Angel Di Maria gives us creativity. David De Gea is injured and that is easy for Victor Valdes to be selected. It is an opportunity for both of them to play.

"Radamel Falcao is injured in the final training session, it's not a big problem but he is injured. It is still possible for us to finish ahead of Arsenal so that is our motivation. West Brom will park the bus against them."

Hull City manager Steve Bruce: "As soon as you drive in, you know it is a big game. You can feel the atmosphere and we understand the magnitude. It is a huge game we have to win. It is a difficult situation to be in and if we do win, it still may not be enough.

"We need everyone to give everything especially the players on the pitch. We need that little bit of luck, we need a big twist and turn, let's hope it is our day.

"It is one of them horrific days. We all enjoy the good times, but you have to accept the bad times too. I am sure the Newcastle result will transcend down to us."

  18. A big win for United?published at 14:43 British Summer Time 24 May 2015

Hull's chances today aren't helped by the history books.

Manchester United last lost away from home on the final day at Tottenham in 2001 (and still won the league by 10 points). Louis van Gaal's men can still - mathematically - grab third spot.

A 6-0 victory for the Red Devils, along with a defeat for Arsenal at home to West Brom will seal automatic qualification for the Champions League group stages.

Anything can happen, it's a funny old game.
