  1. CLOSE!published at 11 min

    Tottenham 0-0 Stoke

Tottenham goakeeper Hugo Lloris might be a bit rusty having only just returned from a wrist injury - and it showed here. A sloppy pass is intercepted by Stoke striker Mame Diouf and he drills a low shot at goal, but Lloris saves his own blushes to save.

Christian Eriksen involved again. This time from a free-kick on the edge of the box which he lifts over the Stoke wall - but once again Jack Butland is equal to it in the Stoke goal and he parries it to safety. Spurs looking dangerous.

It's a wonderful atmosphere in the stadium today. Both teams were unfortunate to lose their opening day matches. Interesting to see Spurs play Eric Dier in central midfield.

    Tottenham 0-0 Stoke

Lovely play from Christian Eriksen as he brings a smart save out of Jack Butland with a low-angled shot which the Stoke goalkeeper pushes just past the post.

Moments earlier Ibrahim Afellay gave a glimpse of his early ambition as he shot from distance blocked.

A relatively subdued start from both teams, Stoke seem content to sit back, soak up pressure and hit Tottenham on the break so far. Spurs seeing plenty of the ball.

  10. 'Stoke's signings show ambition'published at 14:55

    Tottenham v Stoke (15:00 BST)

    Conor McNamara
    BBC MOTD commentator

"Both sides were beaten by freaky goals last weekend. Kyle Walker unfortunately prodded into his own net at Old Trafford, while Philippe Coutinho's winner at the Britannia Stadium was just freakishly good.

"Otherwise they could have earned a point each. Stoke have started this campaign without last season's spine. Asmir Begovic is now at Chelsea, Ryan Shawcross is injured and Steven Nzonzi has joined Sevilla.

"In response, Mark Hughes has been ambitious in the market. Xherdan Shaqiri is the latest exotic arrival, but they may take time to gel. Tottenham's new recruits have been defenders - not surprising for a side with only one Premier League home clean sheet in 2015."

Speaking shortly before kick-off Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino said: "The team we choose today is a good team. It's a tactical change to bring in Ryan Mason.

"Today is a good chance at White Hart Lane to get our first win and we need to play in our way and show confidence. There's no pressure with what happened last season against Stoke, this is a different season and a different game."

In case you missed it, one player who won't be involved for Stoke at White Hart Lane today is Xherdan Shaqiri, who joined the Potters from Inter Milan.

Stoke have received the Swiss midfield playmaker's international clearance, but it has emerged he must serve a one-game ban suspension which applied to the Coppa Italia competition last season.

A statement from Stoke said: "In accordance with Fifa Regulations, The FA have no alternative but to implement the suspension of another association, but the club have expressed its disappointment that the suspension has been applied to a Premier League fixture this season rather than to a comparative cup competition fixture."

Good afternoon and welcome to live text commentary of Tottenham's Premier League clash with Stoke at White Hart Lane.

Spurs began the season with a 1-0 defeat away to Manchester United on the opening day, while Stoke went down by the same scoreline at home to Liverpool last Sunday.
