Steven Whittaker then works Alex McCarthy in the Palace goal, but the keeper holds the defender's left-footed shot. They'll need better than that to halve the deficit.

There's still another half an hour or so to go but no doubt about Leicester's man of the match. Riyad Mahrez has been a constant menace and the Algerian is denied his hat-trick by a post after more trickery inside the Sunderland area. The Foxes win a corner and Mahrez gets a standing ovation as he walks over to take it.
