    Everton 3-1 Chelsea

Everton forward Steven Naismith, speaking to BT Sport:  “There was some interest in me on transfer deadline day and it’s always hard when you’re not playing but the manager decided he wanted to keep me. Hopefully I showed my worth today.”

Everton defender Phil Jagielka, speaking to BT Sport:  “John Stones has been supreme all season. There has been a lot of talk about him but all the players have backed him. He’s been playing really well and that shows what kind of character he is."

Charles Kahanji:  Everton move to third position, Chelsea drop to 15th. Why should John Stones leave a top four club for a team fighting relegation?

Richard J Moir:  Begovic, Zouma, Willian, Mikel and Falcao are not players that are going to win Chelsea the league. Or an away game to Everton.

Karthik Thangamuthu:  Guus Hiddink is available. Just saying, Chelsea.

Saido Berahino's name is booed as the teams are read out at The Hawthorns. A mixed few months ahead for the young man, I wager.

Nothing like a goal to turn things around though...

The Premier League's top two meet at Selhurst Park this afternoon, with Crystal Palace fresh from their stunning win at Chelsea last time out.

Palace chairman Steve Parish has been talking to the Guardian about that result, revealing the lengths he had to go to watch while on a yacht in the Adriatic.

“The game was on Croatian television but the only way I could get it on the box was to stream it off my phone. I probably spent the thick end of four grand on my 3G. I’m waiting for the bill now and it’ll be a ridiculous amount, but worth every penny. It was a brilliant picture, too. Perfectly clear. It was like being there. Honest.”

Have you ever spent more to watch a game?! I hope not.

  7. "Jose is under real, real pressure"published at 14:42 British Summer Time 12 September 2015

    Chris Sutton
Former Blackburn striker on Final Score

"That result was very unlike Chelsea. Jose won't be going anywhere, but you cannot afford to start the Premier League sluggishly and they have done. They are treading water, or really going backwards.

"This is the first time in his Chelsea career that he has been under real, real pressure."

    Everton 3-1 Chelsea

    Jimmy Armfield
BBC Radio 5 live at Goodison Park

"What a terrific show by Steven Naismith. He will long remember the day he got three against the champions. And John Stones' performance says so much about his maturity.

"Chelsea don't look like their former selves. They were very thin until Nemanja Matic's goal. Jose Mourinho really has to sort this one out very quickly. His first priority? Defence."

    Jimmy Armfield
BBC Radio 5 live at Goodison Park

"Chelsea had all the momentum since the beginning of the second half but the point is basically this: the end product is not there.

"And more than that, their defence, normally so reliable, is leaking goals. That is why they went for John Stones."

    Everton 3-1 Chelsea

Wondering who the other players are to have scored a hat-trick in the Premier League after coming on as a sub? Wonder no more - they are Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (v Forest), Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink (v Wolves), Robert Earnshaw (v Charlton), Emmanuel Adebayor (v Derby) and Romelu Lukaku (v Man Utd).

Is it just me, or is Earnshaw an answer to every football trivia question ever?

Paul Charles:  This Chelsea playing well below par thing is remarkably enjoyable. I don't even care that my Fantasy team is shot.

Kyle:  I imagine Chelsea fans watching this season are thinking similar things to Manchester United fans two seasons ago.

Bishal Gyawali:  Wonder what excuses Mourinho will come up with today in the post-match interview...
