    Everton 3-1 Chelsea

    Robbie Savage
    606, BBC Radio 5 live

"Chelsea had no idea today. I was looking at Jose in his press conference before the game, and he didn't look quite right. I think the league is over for them, I really do. I can't see them clawing back 11 points on City."

Craig M Evans:  Fellaini is not a striker, simple as. He can header the ball yes but that is all. He doesn't have that striker's instinct.

Ash:  This has to be worst centre-back pairing I've seen in a Liverpool side.

Jake Saunders:  I'm pretty sure if you asked Brendan Rodgers right now how Liverpool were doing he'd say they were "showing outstanding character"...

    Man Utd 0-0 Liverpool

    Steve Wilson
BBC Match of the Day commentator

"Liverpool have made several defensive errors already and are lucky not to be behind.

"It's all Manchester United at the moment."

  6. 'The balance of United's squad is not right'published at 17:44 British Summer Time 12 September 2015

    Man Utd 0-0 Liverpool

    Robbie Savage
    606, BBC Radio 5 live

"The balance of Manchester United's squad is not right. You cannot spend a quarter of a million pounds on a team and have Marouane Fellaini as your number nine."

  7. Postpublished at 17:43

    Man Utd 0-0 Liverpool

Manchester United are pressing Liverpool back, but they lack a real attacking threat with Marouane Fellaini playing as their lone striker. The big Belgian has just been teed up by a low cross into the box. To say his first touch was poor would be understating it.

  8. 'We are not a malicious team'published at 17:40

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Man City

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew: “Even though we beat Manchester City last season this was a better performance.

“It’s a shame about the injury to Aguero because we are not a malicious team. We both knew this was going to be a tough game and it was.

“The referee just about got the big calls right.

“We are closer to the top teams this season and we gave Manchester City more problems than we have in the past.”

  9. Manager reactionpublished at 17:37

    Arsenal 2-0 Stoke

Stoke manager Mark Hughes, speaking to BBC Sport: "We wanted to make it difficult for Arsenal and get good numbers of bodies around the ball and try to condense play because we know they are very good in wide areas where they look to overload you and look for one-twos around your box.

"Unfortunately our defensive play was a bit too passive in terms of getting out to affect what Arsenal were trying to do, especially in the first half.

"The sharpness I was looking for in our play wasn't there, and you need that when you come here. But we will get better, we are a good team and we have got some good individuals and good talent so we will be fine."

    Norwich 3-1 Bournemouth

The key to Norwich's victory over Bournemouth today? Perhaps it is because they offered more support to their lone striker - with Matt Jarvis (16) and Nathan Redmond (22) proving to be good foils for Cameron Jerome (10).

  11. League One round-uppublished at 17:34

League One leaders Gilligham and second-placed Walsall beat Blackpool and Doncaster respetively as they continue to set the pace in the division.

Burton are third after a win over rivals  Rochdale, while  Peterborough thrashed Oldham 5-1 and  Barnsley were 4-1 victors over  Swindon.

Millwall beat winless Crewe as Port Vale grabbed a late winner in a 3-2 victory over Wigan as Scunthorpe beat Coventry, Bury overcame Sheffield United  and Shrewsbury won at Southend.

Chesterfield and Colchester  were involed in a 3-3 draw, with Fleetwood and Bradford also finishing on level terms.

  12. 'Benteke can physically overpower defenders'published at 17:33 British Summer Time 12 September 2015

    Manchester United 0-0 Liverpool

    Chris Sutton
Former Blackburn striker on Final Score

"Liverpool have a good chance tonight. If Benteke repeatedly peels off Blind he'll cause all sorts of problems, because Benteke can physically overpower defenders.

"If Liverpool don't have the creative edge they should play to their strengths, play it long and try to physically dominate. As for United, well I really like Fellaini. I'd much rather see him play up front than ineffectively in that holding role.

"It's brilliant for United that De Gea has stayed. He's the best keeper in the league.

"I think this will either be a draw, or Liverpool will sneak it."

  14. Manager reactionpublished at 17:30

    Arsenal 2-0 Stoke

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, speaking to BBC Sport: "We had to wait to make sure of our victory but I thought our performance was convincing. In the first half our movement was outstanding and we created a lot.

"In the second half our pace dropped maybe a little bit in our passing but we continuously created chances and overall it was a strong performance.

"My only regret is that there is too big a difference between the number of chances we made and the number of goals we scored but that will come."

  15. City's injury worriespublished at 17:29

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Man City

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini:  “Sergio couldn’t move the leg. I thought it was directly a red card (for Scott Dann) but the referee thought otherwise. I hope he can recover in the next 48 hours.

“Raheem has a problem with his hamstring so I think it was a risk for him to play today. I hope he is 100% fit for Tuesday."

  16. Manager reactionpublished at 17:26

    Norwich 3-1 Bournemouth

Norwich manager Alex Neil, speaking to BBC Sport: “I thought we were the dominant team throughout, we scored three good goals and deserved the win.

"We had our gameplan and the players carried that out perfectly. All credit goes to them. They were fantastic today.

"Wes Hoolahan is an influential player for us, he has that creativity that can decide games. He was dangerous throughout the pitch but as a team we worked really hard and deserved the plaudits.

"Matt Jarvis had that dimension we needed, he can beat players and he did fantastically for his goal, I’m really pleased for him. Hopefully we can continue to play as well as we did today."

  17. 'Kelechi still has a lot to improve'published at 17:25

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Man City

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini, speaking to BBC Sport: “It is not easy to start the new season when we have players coming back at different moments. But I think the team is demonstrating why we have won five games. Last season is in the past and now we are thinking about the future.

“Kelechi  is a very important striker and just 18 years of age. He has a lot to improve.

“It’s important to have a gap between champions but three or four teams can be very strong and can win the title.”

  18. 'We are going all the way'published at 17:22

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Man City

Manchester Citry’s Nigerian teenager Kelechi Iheanacho, speaking to Sky Sports: “I am happy to score a goal like that. Palace are a great team but we are also a strong team. I am hoping to do great for the team. It is not easy because there are great players here but I have to work hard and I will get there. We are much stronger this season and we are going to go all the way.”

"Jose Mourinho is talking rubbish, saying his team did not get what they deserved. Everton were much the better side. It's all very well Jose coming out and giving an interview to the media smiling away - he's culpable."
