Up for grabs now
Much of the chat around the pros and cons of the Premier League last night centred on the fact that 'anyone can beat anyone' - and the strength of teams such as Leicester, West Ham and Crystal Palace mean that the division is ultra-competitive.
We know all about Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich but tonight's games against Wolfsburg (second last year in the Bundesliga) and Monchengladbach (third) may give some insight into the relative strength of the German domestic game...
Monchengladbach v Man City (19:45 BST)
City have been drawn with a German side in each of their five Champions League group stage campaigns, and have lost three of their four trips to Germany.
City have lost seven of their last 11 Champions League games. They're due a win..

Manchester United make just one change from the weekend with Bastian Schweinsteiger replacing Michael Carrick in centre midfield. Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial are in attack.
Former Chelsea forward Andre Schurrle is only on the substitutes bench for Wolfsburg.

"It's a massive night for City and their hopes - Borussia Monchengladbach have some form and are no mugs. For United, I've seen Wolfsburg play twice and I've been impressed with them.
"European teams play these games differently, you can't just play a Premier League style game against these sides. There's a style of play in the Champions League."
Monchengladbach v Man City (19:45 BST)
City talisman Sergio Aguero has only netted one goal from open play in nine matches this season. But this is a competition where he cannot stop scoring...
Man Utd v Wolfsburg (19:45 BST)
Top of the Premier League, Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal was in bullish mood yesterday as he declared that his side could win the Champions League before 2017.
"Reaching the final is also an aim and winning the final, you need a little bit of luck," said Van Gaal.
Van Gaal, who won the Champions League with Ajax in 1995 and came runner-up with Bayern Munich in 2010, added: "It is not only quality [but luck, too], and I think Manchester United knows and remembers that fantastically when they won the Champions League in 1999.
"When you reach the final, it is a fantastic but in the media it is nothing. For me as a manager, when you reach the final, you have done fantastically and to win the final, of course, all the honours are going to your team and yourself but I know better."
Monchengladbach v Man City (19:45 BST)
Just down the road from Dusseldorf, a short hop away from the Netherlands border, Monchengladbach is a town with a population of just over quarter of a million people.
Think Derby, or Stoke-on-Trent.
Known as 'The Foals' - not for their off-tempo, math-rock beats but because of their young, fast style of play - Gladbach won the Bundesliga five times in the 1970s and lost a European Cup final to Liverpool.
They finished third last season behind Bayern Munich and Wolfsburg - Man Utd's foes this evening.

Monchengladbach v Man City (19:45 BST)
Borussia Monchengladbach knocked out Manchester City in their only previous European encounter.
It was in the 1978-79 Uefa Cup quarter-finals and Gladbach went on to win the trophy later that season.
Premier League woes
You would have been forgiven for foreseeing a defeat to Juventus, while losing in Porto is never a shock.
But defeats to PSV, Olympiakos and Dinamo Zagreb came out of the blue and have led to much soul-searching in the media.
Is the Premier League a (continental) victim of its own (domestic) success?
Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer
"Whereas once a meeting with Premier League clubs may have been daunting, it is now greeted with relish and not only the big names fancy their chances.
"The current win rate of English clubs in the Champions League group games is a dismal 17% - this is the worst at the same stage for 20 years, when it was also 17% in 1995-96."
