GOAL - Stoke 0-1 Watfordpublished at 43 mins

    Troy Deeney

Easy as you like. They threatened a little earlier and now they have scored.

Troy Deeney, having knocked on the door more occasions than any other Premier League player this season without scoring, finally scores this campaign.

He is fed a lovely backheel pass by his partner-in-crime Odion Ighalo before stroking in his shot from about 15 yards. Silky.

Heurelho Gomes is forced to claw away Xherdan Shaqiri's corner from the left that was swinging in. It would have been embarrassing for the Stoke stopper if that crept in.

  5. HITS THE WOODWORK - TWICE!!published at 39 mins

    Stoke 0-0 Watford

Watford forward double act Troy Deeney and Odion Ighalo go oh so close to giving the Hornets the lead.

First, top scorer Ighalo heads on to the bar then his team-mate follows up with a sidefoot effort against the same bit of wood (metal).

Unlucky rather than "they should have scored". You'll see what I mean when you watch Match of the Day later.

  7. OH DEAR!published at 30 mins

    Stoke 0-0 Watford

The best chance of the match so far falls to Stoke's Marko Arnautovic - and the midfielder heads it over, nay, shoulders it over from eight yards out.

It was a good initial ball from Xherdan Shaqiri.

...Charlie Adam takes it - of course - and it deflects out for a corner, which for the umpteenth time results in a by-product of nowt.

    Stoke 0-0 Watford

Stoke have a free-kick about 45 metres from goal - dead centre. I counted.

    Stoke 0-0 Watford

Stoke win yet another corner, but Bojan cannot get his delivery beyond the first man. Poor.

There is a goal in this match. I sense it - Jedi-like.

  11. CLOSE-ISH!published at 18 mins

    Stoke 0-0 Watford

It's Charlie Adam again who tries his luck from distance. This time he strikes a Watford headed clearance full on the volley which again misses Heurelho Gomes's left-hand upright.

It actually took a deflection, but Stoke fail to do make anything of the resulting corner.

Thoughts on Xherdan Shaqiri? He cost £12m and just now put too much purchase on a free-kick from the right. It was pretty poor to be honest.

Stoke win a corner after Craig Cathcart has to head out with Joselu set to pounce - the corner comes to zilch.

  14. STOKE SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 10 mins

    Stoke 0-0 Watford

Stoke defender Geoff Cameron appears to have suffered a thigh injury and is replaced by Marc Wilson, who moves into the right side of centre-half.

I wonder if that early change will cause a problem in the Potters' system?

    Stoke 0-0 Watford

Stoke are now applying their first bit of pressure of the match. Midfielder Charlie Adam gets a low drive away which misses Heurelho Gomes's left-hand post by a foot.

  17. CLOSE!published at 3 mins

    Stoke 0-0 watford

Watford striker Troy Deeney's in. He eludes the weak challenge of Geoff Cameron and is just about to sidefoot home, but is denied by the outstretched foot of Glen Johnson. Good defending from the ex-Liverpool man.

  18. KICK-OFFpublished at 15:00

    Stoke 0-0 Watford

We have lift off. Stoke get the match under way. Kicking from left to right if you're sitting in the area where they are kicking left to right.

  19. 'Potters have found their rhythm'published at 14:57

    Stoke v Watford (15:00 BST)

    Steve Wilson
BBC Match of the Day commentator

"Stoke may have had a slightly sticky start to the season but they have found their rhythm now, as we always suspected they would.

"They have won their last four games in all competitions, keeping clean sheets in three of them. If they beat Watford this would be their best Premier League sequence in four years.

"Watford are not extravagant goalscorers - only six in nine games: it's the fewest in the division and one man, Odion Ighalo, has scored five of them.

"With Stoke looking so secure at the back, a repeat of the goalless draw on their last visit to the Britannia Stadium eight years ago may be the best Watford can hope for."
