We didn't give them a second on the ball. Going forward we looked very dangerous, it was great fun. We need to stop slipping up at home. These big wins go unnoticed if you lose at home. But today is a great platform and hopefully we can kick on."

  6. 'It feels perfect'published at 19:45 Greenwich Mean Time 21 November 2015

    Man City 1-4 Liverpool

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp on BBC Match of the Day: "It feels perfect! The game was not perfect but it was very good.

"City couldn't start like they want but that is important for us. We played with big passion and that's the most important thing for us.

"The good news is that we can do better. At half-time I told the boys they were surprised to be winning 3-0, and we must do better in that situation.

"We have quality, we could have more goals but 4-1 is perfect. The boys can believe now that they are stronger than many people think."

What can i say after 4-1 at the Etihad?. It was far from perfect but we took our chances and made our goals. They were brilliant goals. It's a big step. The crowd was a bit nervous when they couldn't build up their game as they wanted. It was good, really good. We have to learn to be in a clear lead. With results like this the lads will start to believe."

Do I understand? No it is impossible. It is difficult to understand, the performance was very low in defending, attacking. They scored four and could have had three more, it is impossible to understand. We worked well during the week, I don't believe the way we played. We must turn the page, you cannot analyse a performance as low as that. It was a fake game."

Today we did it all wrong - the performance, the way we defended, the way we went forward. It was a fake night, a fake game. It is difficult to understand. If we meant to do it on purpose we couldn't have done it that badly. It is impossible to understand. We tried to make changes and have some options to score. We tried to fight but continued making so many mistakes with the ball."

We need to put this behind us. Fair play to Liverpool, they came out fast. We never seemed to get going. I wouldn't say we are in a state of shock because we knew Liverpool would come out fast. We have dropped three points which is a massive disappointment."

Looking at Manuel Pellegrini's philosophy, this will happen when you are so positive and attack minded.

How do they learn from this? How do they sure things up?

These Manchester City guys are class footballers and City's level has dipped today. Joe Hart has not deserved to concede four goals and he was not at fault for any. It could have been six.

"We had chances to get more but Joe Hart made some top saves. It was a really good performance. It's always strange coming back to a club, I was here for five years and have lots of friends here."

Defender Martin Skrtel: "The way we played in the first half was brilliant. It is the fourh goal I have scored against City - I wouldn't mind playing them every week."
