Roy Hodgson and Chris Coleman have already exchanged words after the draw - an early hint into tactics?
Meanwhile, Wales will begin their Euro 2016 campaign against Slovakia in Bordeaux on Saturday 11 June. That game kicks off at 17:00 BST.
England will kick off their Euro 2016 campaign against Russia at Stade Velodrome in Marseille on 11 June.
That, by the way, was the same venue as their opener for the World Cup in France in 1998. England beat Tunisia 2-0 in that game.
Mark Lawrenson
Former Republic of Ireland defender on BBC Two
"Germany are good enough of course but I do fancy France to win it. I just think what has happened there will have such a big impact once the tournament gets under way.
"Momentum will be a big thing in this competition. If you can get a positive result to start and then build."
Alan Shearer
Former England striker on BBC Two
"For first time in a long time England will go to a tournament without any real stars. It might be early for them but we do have Cahill, Barkley and Stones, and a very good goalkeeper in Hart.
"Let’s not talk about qualifying for the knockout stage just yet! Let’s just hope to do well in the group."

He shouldn't be... it's a relatively easy group for the hosts. A reminder Group A is: France, Romania, Albania, Switzerland.
Mark Lawrenson
Former Republic of Ireland defender on BBC Two
"The Republic of Ireland are better as underdogs. They are underdogs in all three games you could argue. Probably this is the least talented Republic squad that has ever qualified.
"But they work so hard though, and because they have no stars, they are very difficult to beat. Last time at the Euros, we were very poor. But I don't see that happening again."
Who are you going to see?

Jamie Ward
Northern Ireland forward on BBC Two
"We will go there and try to do or best. You look at Ukraine as a game to win. No pressure though! We've got a chance to go and play against some of the best players in the world. Hopefully our spirit can carry us through.
"It's been great for the fans to have something to cheer about and I am sure they will travel in numbers to France as well."
Tough draw for Northern Ireland. Germany, Poland and Ukraine. Thoughts, Northern Ireland fans?
Kevin Ratcliffe
Former Wales and Everton captain on BBC Radio Wales
"I'd rather be playing England than France, Germany or Spain.
"There are other countries that actually scare me more than they do. I think that's a good draw for Wales.
"I'm hoping to pick up at least four points."
Chris Coleman looks like he might just agree with John Hartson. Big smile on the Wales boss at the moment. Are you as happy with the draw, England and Wales fans?
John Hartson
Former Wales striker
"I wanted that, it’s a great game for supporters, for television and the players will look forward to it.
"I think players from both countries will be pleased with that."
Mark Lawrenson
Former Republic of Ireland defender on BBC Two
"Slovakia and Russia, I think England will be pleased. You don't know what you're gonna get until you get there, but I think they will be happy with that.
"It's a dogs dinner for the Republic of Ireland though. That is a very tough group. But we are difficult to beat.
"And there are only eight of the teams who don't go through to the knockout stage. A win could be enough to send you through as one of the best third-placed teams."
Alan Shearer
Former England striker on BBC Two
"England can be reasonably happy, but I’m sick of saying that after draws for Euros or World Cups! We should just get there and see what happens!
Why not play Wales? I think deep down Chris Coleman and Roy Hodgson will be delighted. They know the players well and should look forward to it."
