Lively at times but also a bit scrappy. 

The battle between Stoke defender Ryan Shawcross and West Ham striker Andy Carroll is getting tasty. Let's see how that plays out in the second half.

Aaron Cresswell whips a lovely ball in from the left and it reaches West Ham team-mate Michail Antonio but he messes it up from close range and it goes over. 

Ryan Shawcross and Andy Carroll come to blows again and a free-kick is given about 25 yards out. 

Mauro Zarate takes it but it's headed clear.

A decent penalty shout for West Ham.

Ryan Shawcross gives the ball away to Mark Noble, and the West Ham captain makes a run forward before being brought down in the area by Shawcross.

The hosts are retaining the ball well in the Stoke half but are really lacking the potent touch in the final third.

A free-kick is given and it's whipped in to James Collins, but the West Ham defender can't get his shot past Jack Butland

Who's winning?

A long ball over the top reaches big striker Andy Carroll and the England international tries to lay it off but it's cleared by Stoke.

A physical battle between Carroll and Stoke defender Ryan Shawcross is developing nicely.

Shawcross appears to body-block Carroll and the West Ham man goes down holding his face. Referee Andre Marriner has a word but no action is taken.

Stoke's Marko Arnautovic grabbed two against Manchester City last week and he's just gone close again.

He tried to latch onto a low Glen Johnson ball-in but he can't convert from six yards out. 

Jack Butland is sent into action as Hammers striker Andy Carroll comes storming forward. The Stoke keeper makes himself big and gathers with ease.

Stoke just edging possession at the moment, but it is a bit slow from both teams

Michail Antonio once again bursts forward but his West Ham team-mates are playing catch up, and by the time he reaches the penalty area there's a swarm of Stoke defenders ready to dispossess him.

It's all a bit scrappy at the moment.

West Ham are trying to break through the brick wall that is Stoke's defence but the Potters are holding firm.

Michail Antonio, on his first Premier League start for West Ham, makes it to the byline but he tries what looks like a cross-shot and it bobbles into keeper Jack Butland's hands. 

At the other end, Ibrahim Afellay is at it again. He twists and turns but his shot goes over after it deflected off West Ham defender James Collins. 

Former West Ham and Stoke winger Matthew Etherington is in the crowd.

Marco van Ginkel will be kicking himself now. The Stoke man has just scuffed an absolute sitter in front of goal.

The ball came in from close range from Ibrahim Afellay, who is causing West Ham serious problems.
