David Chidgey of the Chelsea Fancast on 5 live Sport: "A lot of the match-going fans will be disappointed - we have been backing Mourinho throughout the season, regardless of how bad the results have been.

"I blame the players, the ones who kick the ball on the pitch and who have been so poor this season. They need to look in the mirror and admit that, for whether reason, they haven't been performing."

Not just banners, Lawro, but masks too.

There's definitely a lot of support for Jose Mourinho in the stands at Stamford Bridge.

One woman is sat clinging defiantly to a life-size cut-out of the man himself while a large banner displaying the words "Jose Mourinho: Simply the Best" stretches along one of the stands.

"It's a real worry, player power. Think about the amount of it in that Chelsea dressing room. Mourinho was culpable because of some selection decisions he made, but we can all expect banners supporting Jose at Stamford Bridge today.

"Have the players done their utmost this season? I very much doubt it, and that's really strange.

"Mourinho has not helped himself, but he is a very, very good manager. Where do Chelsea go from here, and what nessage does this send out for the future?"

Former Netherlands boss Guus Hiddink has been appointed interim manager of the Blues until the end of the season, taking on a similar role to the one he had at Stamford Bridge back in the 2008-09 season.

He's not in the dugout today, though, with first-team coach Steve Holland the man who has picked today's team, speaking of which here is the team news...

When Chelsea lifted the Premier League trophy back in May, few would have predicted that, just seven months later, Jose Mourinho would be sat watching Championship football on the day the Blues faced Sunderland in a battle towards the bottom of the table.

That, though, is the case today as Chelsea begin life after Mourinho looking to end a run of successive defeats.

Mourinho's last action as Chelsea boss was to accuse some of his players, external of betrayal. How will those players respond today?
