While these two sides have been busy doing battle in Cardiff, the FA Cup first-round draw has taken place.

Thirty-two non-league sides joined 48 league clubs in the draw, with ties beginning on Friday, 6 November.

Didcot, the lowest-ranked team in the FA Cup, will play League Two's Exeter City at home in perhaps the standout tie of the round 

As you can see Bristol City have had the better of the first-half action. Cardiff City are yet to test opposition keeper Frank Fielding.

That's absolutely sensational from David Marshall as he tips over Jonathan Kodjia's header from point-blank range. What a save. The corner is headed over by Joe Bryan.

It's another wasted cross from Joe Bryan, as he creates space but fails to pick out an unmarked Jonathan Kodjia at the back post and Cardiff head behind from a corner.

The resulting set-piece is again headed behind by the Bluebirds, while the follow up is wasted as Aaron Wilbraham fails to connect from 12 yards.

Joe Bryan is obviously still not warmed up as he wastes two decent crossing positions for Bristol City, while at the other end Joe Mason is caught offside in what has been a frustrating evening so far for the Bluebird.

Bristol City are finding most joy on Cardiff's left-hand side but another cross comes to nothing as we reach the half-hour point.

That's so, so close for Cardiff City as Matthew Connolly heads Peter Whittingham's corner just wide of the angle at the back post. That's the closest the Bluebirds have come.

A lull in play so time for a quick stat or two. Cardiff City are without a shot on target so far, while Bristol City have had four attempts with only one needing David Marshall to get his gloves wet. 

Elliott Bennett finds space on the right wing for Bristol City but his cross is inaccurate and just ahead of the on-rushing Jonathan Kodjia.

Bristol City eventually win back possession and win a corner, but it comes to nothing as they waste an opportunity to test David Marshall.
