Lionel Messi is among a host of big names left out of Barcelona's starting XI for the Copa del Rey tie with third-division Villanovense (kick-off 19:00 GMT).

Neymar, Luis Suarez and Andres Iniesta are on the bench but Messi is given a complete rest as youngsters Munir El Haddadi, Sandro Ramirez and Sergi Samper get their chance.

After drawing the first leg 0-0, it would probably be the biggest shock of the season if Barca failed to reach the next round. Make that shock of the century.

  4. Valencia in action after Neville appointmentpublished at 18:51

Big two also feature in Copa del Rey tonight

Gary Neville's new team Valencia travel to Barakaldo, who play in the Spanish third tier, in the last-32 of the Copa del Rey.

Phil Neville will be alongside interim coach Voro on the bench in the Basque country - and his elder brother will expect a full briefing after the game.

Barcelona and Real Madrid are also in action, with under-pressure Rafa Benitez taking Real to third-division Cadiz for the first leg.

Barca have already drawn their first leg - 0-0 at Villanovense, another third-tier club - and should progress with ease.

Nothing like a left-field managerial appointment to put the cat among the pigeons eh?

And Gary Neville being made Valencia head coach was so left field it was almost still in the changing rooms.
