Plenty of shots, lots of wayward shooting.

Bojan has had very little impact. If you are looking for a goal, he might be your man, but how long do you leave it?

  3. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 70 mins

    Stoke 0-1 Liverpool

Bojan makes way for Joselu. So that will probably mean the incoming man will join Jonathan Walters through the middle.

Joselu scored at Everton a week or so ago of course so he's on song.

  4. Postpublished at 69 mins

    Stoke 0-1 Liverpool

Stoke's turn to throw a punch, Jonathan Walters down the right, a chipped cross and Ryan Shawcross is forward but heads over. He should probably do better. He makes his marker - Nathaniel Clyne - look very small.

    Stoke 0-1 Liverpool

Jordon Ibe, left flank, a pass into Roberto Firmino yields a one-two, it's slick. Ibe is into the area, can he fashion a shot? Two in support, he gets onto his right peg... side netting. A half chance.

Stoke City are finally trying to build up a head of steam but there remains an air of desperation about their play and Liverpool still look like they can pick them off on the break.

Mark Hughes' side need the equaliser but it also brings its own dangers. This has been a night of frustration for the home fans so far.

Whelan doesn't see Joe Allen. That is clumsy.

  8. Postpublished at 65 mins

    Stoke 0-1 Liverpool

Liverpool threaten and Joe Allen gets a toe to the ball before Glenn Whelan in the area, is that a penalty? No.

James Milner is on the scraps... he shoots left footed... hacked away from under the bar as the ball squirmed across goal.

Both sides look capable of a second.

Xherda Shaqiri - bull-like shoulders - to the left of the area. He dances on the ball and clips a cross in, good stuff by Simon Mignolet. Quickly off his line.

Walters has given Stoke a real platform. They can hit him now and it gives the others a real freedom.

James Milner is absolutely fuming. He flings his right arm out in disgust as Roberto Firmino shoots over. Milner thought the ball was destined for him but the Brazilian executed a drag back before shooting over the bar.

Marko Arnautovic on the ball in midfield. There's an arrogance to his posture. Great ball in behind for Xherdan Shaqiri, who races on to the ball but it has an ounce too much weight on it.

    Very close. Simon Mignolet gathers.

What a challenge by Lucas Leiva. Maybe Liverpool have unearthed his new position here.

As Bojan weaves in field to shoot on his right foot from 18 yards, Lucas dives at him to execute a thumping block-tackle. You could hear that up on the space station.

A reminder the winner of this will face Everton or Manchester City and Toffees forward Gerard Deulofeu is somewhat excited.

If you're wondering, away goals do count in these semi-finals but only after extra time in the return legs.

There's more on show from Stoke here already. The break maybe brought some harsh words from Mark Hughes.

They try to build through midfield but Alberto Moreno is well placed to intercept.

It looks like there is contact from Moreno, there is a pull back as well. That is a penalty.

  17. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 53 mins

    Stoke 0-1 Liverpool

Jonathan Walters gets a bump in the back from Kolo Toure and a huge cheer rings around the Britannia as Stoke are given a free-kick. The home fans want referee Anthony Taylor to give them more.

In comes the in-swinger, Toure heads it down and Glenn Whelan will shoot... HE GOES DOWN... nothing given. Alberto Moreno denied him but was it legal?

  18. Postpublished at 50 mins

Adam Lallana runs his fingers through his soaking hair as Stoke take a throw in. Ibrahim Afellay spreads the play to Glen Johnson. He delivers... well headed away by Kolo Toure, who quickly rubs his hands together. Cold.

The change was needed. Stoke had no threat in the first half. Jon Walters will add that willingness to run beyond.
