    Stoke 1-1 Norwich

The Stoke fans had briefly found their voice after their side took the lead, now the noise is coming from the away end.

"Ten men! We've only got 10 men...." is what they're singing. Alex Neil grins like a Cheshire cat and fistpumps the cold Potteries air.

GOAL - Stoke 1-1 Norwichpublished at 55 mins

    Jonny Howson

Wow! Pick this out of the onion bag. Norwich's 10 men stun the Britannia with a wicked equaliser out of the blue. Wes Hoolahan's ball from the left is neatly chested down by Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe into the path of Jonny Howson. Then...wham! The ex-Leeds midfielder blasts a rising shot into the roof of the Stoke net.

    Stoke 1-0 Norwich

Stoke spring forward again as they aim to carve Norwich open. Again their success comes down the left, Erik Pieters attempting to play in scorer Jon Walters. But Canaries keeper Declan Rudd is alert and comes to gather.

    Stoke 1-0 Norwich

Norwich try to instantly hit back, but are hampered by their lack of numbers going forward. A square pass into the box from the left flank is easily cleared by Stoke.

Great ball in from Arnautovic, Declan Rudd can't come for that and it's a great finish from Walters. The quality involved is fantastic. It's a mountain to climb for Norwich now.

    Jon Walters

Here it is! Stoke make the early breakthrough that they desperately craved. Marko Arnautovic is the architect, beautifully bending a teasing cross into that corridor of uncertainty between goalkeeper and defence. Neither deals with the cross, allowing Jon Walters to slide in at the far post and steer in. Long way back for Norwich now, one would imagine.

But the ball gets nowhere near Shawcross and Wollscheid as Howson clears for Norwich. Stoke need an early goal here...

Almost showtime. the players are strolling back out of the tunnel.

And, for those snuggled up all warm and cosy inside, you'll be pleased to know it is still bitterly cold in Stoke.

Lovely touch from the man in charge of the music at the Brit....a bit of Bowie at half-time. Rightly so.

  12. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:38

    Stoke 0-0 Norwich

You can have all the possession in the world but it means nothing if you don't make it count. And Stoke aren't making it count. The Potters have only hit the target with one of their eight efforts so far.

I suspect Mark Hughes will be tearing a strip off his lads in the home dressing room.

Before O'Neil's moment of madness, it was fair to suggest that Norwich were shading things. (Also supported by Stoke boss Mark Hughes' bulldog-chewing-a-wasp expression.)

Since his red card, Stoke have wrestled the possession stats back in their favour as our graphic below shows...

So no breakthrough for the hosts, despite playing the last 15 minutes of the first half with an extra man.

Norwich, for those just joining us (tut tut), are down to 10 men after Gary O'Neill needlessly wiped out Stoke rival Ibrahim Afellay from behind.

Stoke left-back Erik Pieters swings in a ball from the left flank towards Joselu, but Norwich defender Sebastien Bassong uses his considerable height to head clear. And that should just about be that...

What a waste! Set-pieces arguably represent Norwich's best chance of nabbing a goal - but the corner from Robbie Brady fails to beat the front man.

The Britannia crowd urge their team forward as Stoke look for a late breakthrough. But Norwich hold firm and clear their lines. Patience is going to be the key for the Potters.

  19. Postpublished at 42 mins

    Stoke 0-0 Norwich

Collective sigh of relief from Norwich as Stoke striker Joselu shoves Sebastien Bassong in the back as the pair jump for a cross from the right. That's a free-kick for the visitors inside their box as they run down the clock.

  20. Postpublished at 40 mins

    Stoke 0-0 Norwich

Stoke are beginning to press forward more as the first half enters its final five minutes. A long ball from the back is headed down by the Norwich defence to Jon Walters, who thumps goalwards from 20 yards. But it is always rising as Declan Rudd watches the ball whizz over his crossbar.
