More frustration for the home crowd. Jesse Lingard's strike from 25 yards takes a clear deflection off a Southampton man but the referee signals a goal-kick.

Two minutes have been added. Two more minutes to suffer before a much-needed break.

With half-time looming, United look to try and strike but in keeping with their first-half display they waste a good position as Matteo Darmian's cross is straight to a Saints man, who clears.

As United flounder, Southampton are growing as a threat. Sadio Mane looks to chip a pass to Jordy Clasie in the box but it is over-hit and goes out of play.

The groans have now become boos. Matteo Darmian's forward pass is aimless and straight out for a Southampton goal-kick.

There is the best chance of the half so far. The only real chance of the half so far. Dusan Tadic chips the ball into the oath of Sadio Mane, who has a clear sight of goal but can't control the ball and bring it down. He tries to swing his boot through the ball, but it has already skipped away from him. It is a big let-off for United.

Hold on, we've got a corner. Can Southampton make anything from this? Nope. The ball is swung right across the box and out for a goal kick. Dreadful.

This is terrible. Both sides are struggling to build anything meaningful in the opposition half. In fact, they're both struggling to even keep hold of the ball. Yes, you can praise the defensive work, but it makes for a very dull affair.
