    Arsenal 0-0 Chelsea

Diego Costa has more goals, with four, and assists, with two, since Jose Mourinho’s departure than he had throughout the first 16 games of the season. In those 16 he only managed the three goals and one assist.

  2. YELLOW CARDpublished at 10 mins

    Arsenal 0-0 Chelsea

Ah that's much more like it! Joel Campbell plays a one-two with Olivier Giroud on the edge of the box and then feeds a disguised pass in to Mathieu Flamini on the penalty spot.

With all due respect, unfortunately it's Mathieu Flamini and the holding midfielder does not have the awareness or skill to turn out and get a shot away. Oscar is then booked for scything down the busy Campbell. Pulses raised...

    "Quite an entertaining opening here.

"Olivier Giroud does not look like he is carrying any knocks, he is running freely."

Referee Mark Clattenburg lets a late one from Arsenal's Mathieu Flamini on Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta go without a yellow card.

He adopted a similar stance at Anfield last Sunday when Liverpool's Lucas and Manchester United's Marouane Fellaini clashed - and the game was the better for it. Did not make a rod for his own back for the rest of the game with an early caution.

Aaron Ramsey now can't find Theo Walcott despite being within touching distance. Come on - some people have paid an awful lot of money to watch this...

  6. Postpublished at 6 mins

    Arsenal 0-0 Chelsea

Mesut Ozil gives the ball away, and then Oscar does the same for Chelsea. Sloppy. Joel Campbell then can't reach a raking pass out wide and it's out for a throw. Where's the quality?

  7. Postpublished at 4 mins

    Arsenal 0-0 Chelsea

Cesc Fabregas, back on sacred turf, picks together a neat move down the Chelsea right but his cutback can't locate a blue shirt. Promising stuff from both sides when they go forwards though.

    Arsenal 0-0 Chelsea

Cesar Azplicueta is caught late by Mathieu Flamini as the high tempo start continues at the Emirates. Flamini - like Mikel Obi - is another first-team regular I would not have called a few months ago.

  9. Postpublished at 2 mins

    Arsenal 0-0 Chelsea

Theo Walcott, captain for the day, gets behind on the left of the penalty area and stands up a cross for Joel Campbell to have a swing at. It's on his left foot and tricky but the Costa Rican makes a duff connection.

Classic Premier League poor defending at the other end then sees Laurent Koscielny give the ball straight to Oscar, but his shot is wide.

    Bright start!

  12. Wenger's rallying callpublished at 15:59 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2016

    Arsenal v Chelsea (16:00 GMT)

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at The Emirates

In his match notes today, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger talks about "a special solidarity in the team, a special desire" - and if they show that between now and May surely they can end a Premier League title drought stretching back to 2004.

A win today against Chelsea will put The Gunners back on top of the table. They will never have a better chance to reclaim the title as those they would usually regard as their closest rivals falter.

You give up second guessing goings on in the Premier League but I'm happy to go on record and say that I did not expect Jon Mikel Obi to become a first-team regular at Chelsea again.

MIkel is approaching a testimonial now! Arsenal old boys Sol Campbell and David O'Leary take their seats, Sol swapping stories of mansion taxes and grouse shooting no doubt. Just your average centre-half...

Chelsea are on the longest current unbeaten run in the Premier League with two wins and four draws. Quite surprising to hear considering they're 14th in the table but proof of Guus Hiddink's impact.
