Karl Robinson makes one change to the starting line-up that slumped to a dismal defeat by Brentford last week, with Samir Carruthers coming in for Diego Poyet in the Dons midfield.

Left-back Dean Lewington actually played in the only ever meeting of the two sides, a League Cup match way back in 2007 when his team-mates included Alan Navarro and Sean O'Hanlon.

    Missed Friday's results? Here's a quick catch-up...

Blackburn continued their excellent form under new manager Paul Lambert with a 1-0 home win over Rotherham.

At Molineux, Nottingham Forest came from a goal down to draw 1-1 against Wolves.

Substitute Dexter Blackstock, seen above celebrating his 80th-minute equaliser, cancelled out a first-half header from Wolves defender Ethan Ebanks-Landell.

After a run of mediocre results in September and October, early Championship pacesetters Ipswich are back on track, with Mick McCarthy's side taking 10 points from a possible 12.

That run saw the former Republic of Ireland and Wolves manager named Championship manager of the month, but last season's play-off semi-finalists aren't counting their chickens yet.

"We had a great November but we'll need to have more good months to make the play-offs," McCarthy told BBC Radio Suffolk. "It's a tough league. You can have a good run, and if you get that then you get back up the league as we did."

For MK Dons, victory would be only their second since October as the 20th-placed side try to pull themselves away from the Championship drop zone.

Last weekend's 2-0 defeat by Brentford had manager Karl Robinson livid, saying that some of his players had three more weeks to save their careers at the club.

On reflection, he told BBC Three Counties Radio on Thursday: "I think it's important you speak from the heart and be open and honest. You can't always protect people.

"They accepted it as well, if they don't they're in the wrong industry because if they think that's acceptable they're at the wrong football club."

Saturday has come around once again and in the early Championship game we've got a little bit of history for football nerds everywhere to get their teeth into.

The paths of former Uefa Cup winners Ipswich and MK Dons, formed in 2004, have never crossed in the league before, but that all changes today.

Both need the points for very different reasons as we head into the busy Christmas season so it should be a cracker (festive pun out of the way early).
