  8. League Two previewpublished at 13:57

There's a bit of a grudge match in prospect at the top of League Two this afternoon, where leaders Plymouth visit a Newport side led by their former manager John Sheridan. “I’d love to get one over them and get three points,” says Sheridan, who left Home Park at the end of last season.

Huish Park will witness a match affecting both ends of the table, as second-placed Oxford visit next-to-bottom Yeovil, who are on a run of 15 league games without victory and face a third successive relegation.

Northampton, in third, host Accrington, while Portsmouth - beaten for only the third time this season as they lost at Leyton Orient on Boxing Day - lie fourth as they prepare to host Luton.

In total, there are 11 fixtures in League Two today. It should have been 12, but Carlisle's game against Hartlepool has been put back until late February because they have nowhere to play it., external

  10. League One previewpublished at 13:55

It has been a good start to life under Sean O’Driscoll for Walsall, with two wins in two since he took over taking them to the top of the table. The Saddlers today host Peterborough, who are fifth in League One.

Elsewhere, second-place Burton host midtable Swindon while Wigan, in the final play-off place on goal difference, are at Fleetwood.

There's a Yorkshire derby to watch out for too as Sheffield United host Bradford City. Both sides are just outside the play-offs setting things up for a tasty encounter.

  12. Championship previewpublished at 13:53

Middlesbrough have the chance to regain top spot when they play Sheffield Wednesday in the 17:15 GMT kick-off. Boro had their game at Blackburn postponed on Boxing Day and were leapfrogged into first place by Derby, who are in action tomorrow night.

Hull could also go joint top if Boro slip up and they win at Preston in one of the six 15:00 GMT kick-offs.

Burnley and Birmingham will be aiming to get their promotion hopes back on track against strugglers Bristol City and MK Dons, while Reading host Brentford with both sides also aiming to move closer to the play-off places.

QPR boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is hoping for his first win in charge of the club at the fifth attempt when his side take on Huddersfield, and second-from-bottom Charlton host Wolves.

    Mark Lawrenson
Ex-Liverpool defender at St James' Park for Radio 5 live

BBC Sport's football expert Mark Lawrenson is pitting his wits against a different guest each week this season.

Lawro's opponent for this weekend's Premier League fixtures is BBC Match of the Day commentator Guy Mowbray.

Mowbray has predicted five draws on a tight Bank Holiday Monday but has backed Manchester City to beat title rivals Leicester.

Lawro is also up against a state-of-the-art super-computer called SAM (Sports Analytics Machine) for the second week running.

Crystal Palace v Swansea (15:00 GMT)

    Steve Wilson
BBC Match of the Day commentator at King Power Stadium

" A Complete History of Crystal Palace in Europe" - it wouldn't be the longest book.

"Back in 1998 under Terry Venables, and as a second tier club, Palace lost 2-0 home and away to Turkey's Samsunspor in the Intertoto Cup , external... and, well, that's it.

"European qualification would not flatter Alan Pardew's excellent side - the best Palace team since Wright, Bright, Salako, Pardew and co.

"It's easy to forget that Swansea beat Manchester United in late August - and deservedly so. Their first 11 looks decent, but their squad has been allowed to become almost painfully thin. A new manager must be appointed quickly and given the opportunity to spend in January."

  16. Palace top four? You must be madpublished at 13:45

Crystal Palace v Swansea (15:00 GMT)

Like him or loathe him, you can't argue with the job Alan Pardew has done at Crystal Palace.

In fact, if they win today and Spurs lose, the Eagles will soar into fourth place. That's a Champions League spot. What a crazy season it has been.

Imagine if you said in August, "I predict Leicester and Palace to finish in the top four." They'd have locked you up.

They host Swansea this afternoon, who are a side at the other end of the table, looking to preserve their top flight status.

The Swans managed to beat West Brom on Boxing Day - much needed victory - but are still without a manager. Does no-one want the job..?

    West Ham v Southampton

    Simon Brotherton
MOTD commentator at White Hart Lane

"Even in this most unpredictable of seasons I don't think many would have predicted that Southampton would give Arsenal a 4-0 thumping on Boxing Day, certainly not me anyway.

"And what about that goal! Cuco Martina's wonder strike makes him the first player from Curaçao to score in the Premier League, meaning players from 93 different nationalities have now scored in the competition.

"West Ham's game at Aston Villa didn't hit those sort of heights, but was decent enough and Slaven Bilic wasn't unhappy with a point despite feeling a couple of big decisions hadn't gone their way.

"It's five draws in a row for the Hammers as they continue to tread water while several key players recover from injury."
