This game is bobbing along without drama. Liverpool will be happy, but so will Stoke. Imagine the pandemonium if the Potters score in the last 10 minutes and know a second will see them through?

"We're looking at that little bit of quality in the final third, but unfortunately the game is being played in the middle of the park."

A half-chance for Stoke, who win a free-kick deep on the left side and the ball is delivered to the near post where Bojan glances it on but there's nobody following it up for a tap-in.

I won't lie... this is not a classic. If ever there's a night to cede control of the television remote and just follow it discreetly on the live text commentary, it's tonight. We'll let you know if it gets interesting.

"Emre Can's probably been Liverpool's best player going forward tonight. I think Jack Butland had it covered. That's better from the home side."

Stoke couldn't pick a lock at the moment. Can they find room for Xherdan Shaqiri?

Liverpool, meanwhile, suddenly spark into life and Emre Can strikes a powerful shot just wide. Good player, Emre. He'll become a fine midfielder in time.

There's very little happening so the cameras pan to a fidgety Jurgen Klopp on the touchline. The manager is fiddling with his watch strap.

He's a great character, but if you didn't know who he was and he turned up to read your water meter... would you let him in?

Stoke are getting no joy here - it's amazing to think that Liverpool let in four at the weekend. The visitors are pressed back so they try an angled ball out wide, but that's headed safely back to the keeper by the full-back.

Stoke City have been settling down and that was a good chance for Jon Walters. Mark Hughes turned away in frustration as the opportunity was missed - but to be honest Sparky has looked frustrated from the first whistle.

Marc Muniesa is into the book for a foul on James Milner.

As a consolation though, Marc... excellent spelling of a fine name!

Emre Can is like a terrier 30 yards from goal and he eventually wins the ball, takes a touch but punts his shot well wide. It was pretty high too.

What a chance! Liverpool are caught out by the long ball, and it's Jon Walters who is the beneficiary as he spins Kolo Toure and races through but drags his angled shot just wide of the goal. A clever pass and a clever run.

Bojan wins a free-kick 45 yards out when he glides through the Liverpool defence and is brought down by Alberto Moreno. The free-kick is wastefully put out of play without testing the keeper by Marko Arnuatovic.

Mark Hughes reacts by launching a verbal volley in the direction of his striker who stands with his eyes fixed in the opposite direction. Good plan.

All of Anfield applauds 11-year-old Owen McVeigh, who has sadly lost his leukaemia battle. A huge banner is unfurled and Jurgen Klopp joins in the applause. Touching stuff.

What's been noticeable so far is the amount of times possession has been surrendered by both teams because of a poor first touch. To sum up the scrappiness of it all, Emre Can drives forward and across the box but ends up running the ball out of play.
