Oliver Cook: A goal down. I think it's time for Northern Ireland to bring on a certain fella who's on fire..

Matias del Azar: Nor Ire have not played any real football, you would understand if it was Germany but it's Poland. Need to be more ambitious.

Tim Collingwood: It's been coming. Gutted for NI. Milik is such a dangerous player.

"It's an excellent strike which goes through the legs of Craig Cathcart. Northern Ireland will now have to be a lot more adventurous."

"It was a quality ball into Milik's feet and once he got it onto his left foot there was only going to be one outcome.

"Not winning the second ball was vital.

"There is plenty of time for Northern Ireland to get back into the game but they have to start now getting on to the ball."

"I think we had to do something. Although we defended well, the pressure was mounting and Northern Ireland were looking a little bit cagey towards the end.

"I think Northern Ireland have reverted to a system that suits them better."

  13. 'We need to hold onto the ball better'published at 18:01 British Summer Time 12 June 2016

    Poland 0-0 Northern Ireland

Injured Northern Ireland midfielder Chris Brunt: "It’s been OK - both teams are looking to not lose the game. We have defended pretty well but other than that one good save from Michael McGovern he hasn’t had too much to do. It's been a bit disappointing how we have dealt with the ball when we have it. In qualifying, we have been used to having less possession than the other team so as it goes on, it might suit us.

"You can see the lads all working hard for each other, they'd run through brick walls for each other, and they have plenty to talk about in the dressing room. We are only a set-piece goal from taking the lead. We just need to hold onto the ball a bit better."

"The worry when you are always defending is if Poland go ahead, are they going to get two or three?"

Decent, this, from Bartosz Kapustka, who has been good for Poland.

I've been informed by my Polish friend that a literal translation of his name is "little cabbage".

This makes me like him even more.

  18. 'FA has no clue how serious Uefa threat is'published at 17:51 British Summer Time 12 June 2016

In case you missed it earlier, Uefa has threatened to disqualify England and Russia from Euro 2016 if there is any further violence by fans.

And, according to the Times’ chief football writer Henry Winter, the Football Association “doesn’t have a clue how serious” Uefa’s threat to expel England from Euro 2016 is,

“It is a huge threat” said Winter, speaking to Gabby Logan on Facebook., external

"Unfortunately the English have previous. In 2000 in Charleroi, England were so close to being chucked out. The players and the managers came out and appealed to the fans.

“I don’t think the FA has got a clue how serious this is because it was touch and go last time when they could have thrown out. That was one of the strongest statements I have ever read from Uefa. They normally say ‘it is naughty and we will fine you £20,000’ but I think they could [expel a team] this time.

“I hope they look at the Russians first as the provocation was by the ultras first. The Russians have got to look at themselves and their FA will probably say 'we don’t have a problem, it is the English', but you could see, particularly in the stadium, the behaviour of their fans.

“Now, it is just a minority of English fans and the support of the majority was absolutely brilliant, but we can’t hide away from the fact that England have got some nasty followers.”

"Where Poland are crossing the ball in from wouldn't concern you."
