With just one goal in their last six matches, it's clear where Palace's problems lie. But Alan Pardew thinks he's found just the man to turn their attack from sputtering shambles into well-oiled goal machine. Step forward Emmanuel Adebayor.

You may remember Adebayor from such comical escapades as celebrating directly in front of opposition fans and kicking Robin van Persie in the face, but the Togolese striker has an eye for goal as well as controversy, having found the net 96 times in his Premier League career.

Pardew hasn't been shy about pumping the new man's tyres. "If we get him anywhere near his best, he is of a level above most players who’ve ever played for this football club," he said. "Mark Bright was our best striker and he can’t even lace Ade’s boots. I’ve been telling him that - he’s not taken it well."

    Match of the Day commentator

"While the FA Cup would seem this season to be a priority for Crystal Palace, they need to return to winning ways in the league.

"Palace have lost their last four and taken just two points and scored one goal in their last six.

"In contrast, Bournemouth have only lost two of their last 11 in the league and Benik Afobe has made an immediate impact.

"It was good to see skipper Tommy Elphick back in action at the weekend and, although he probably won't start at Selhurst Park, his return will be vital as Eddie Howe's team look to secure a Premier League place for another season."

    Mark Lawrenson
    BBC Sport football expert

"I'm going for 2-0 to Crystal Palace.

"Bournemouth are on a run of one win in six league games and they are not going to be pulling away from the relegation zone anytime soon.

"The Eagles are strong in most departments, but they need goals - they have only scored once during that run."

Crystal Palace make two changes from the side that beat Stoke 1-0 in the FA Cup. Mile Jedinak and James McArthur replace Joe Ledley and Yohan Cabaye. New signing Emmanuel Adebayor is on the bench.

Bournemouth show plenty of changes from the second-string side that beat Portsmouth in the FA Cup, but it's the same side that started the last Premier League match against Sunderland, with one exception - Matt Ritchie starts ahead of Junior Stanislas.
