    On 6 February 1958, an aircraft crash in Munich took the lives of 21 people, including seven Manchester United players. 

    Today's game is the closest home game to the anniversary of the tragic incident and there have been readings taking place at the Munich Air Disaster Memorial outside Old Trafford.

    The United players will wear black armbands in the match.

    Manchester United's goalscoring - and performances in general - have been abysmal at Old Trafford this season.

    They have scored just 12 goals in 11 Premier League games this season, with only bottom club Aston Villa having a worse record.

    Add to that the horror stat that it is 11 matches - eight hours and 26 minutes - since they scored in the first half of a home game at OId Trafford and you can see why there is an air of discontent among supporters.

    If that does not change here against Stoke City, the pressure will increase on manager Louis van Gaal.

    Well, Pep Guardiola's appointment as Manchester City's next manager has really stoked the flames.

    It was widely expected - but its confirmation still carried enough weight to reverberate throughout world football.

    The 45-year-old Catalan is the game's most coveted coach, a charismatic and intense personality who has achieved glittering success at Barcelona - where he won two Champions League finals against Manchester United in 2009 and 2011 - and Bayern Munich based on an artistic passing approach.

    So does his appointment make City Manchester's top club?
