  1. 'Leicester have turned the table on its head'published at 12:28 Greenwich Mean Time 6 February 2016

Man City v Leicester (12:45 GMT)

    Matt Elliott
Former Leicester City captain on BBC Radio 5 live

"It's miraculous, the way Leicester have turned the table on its head from this time last year. But this has now gone on too long to be a flash in the pan. They simply overpower the opposition, who just cannot live with them for the 90 minutes.

"And every so often they turn on the style, as they did in midweek against Liverpool."

"It's remarkable, the Leicester story. But I will continually refer back to last season. These teams last played here in this stadium on 4 March 2015. Man City won 2-0, two goals in the second half, and after that Leicester were cut adrift at the bottom of the table - they were seven points from the team that were fourth bottom.

"And here we are now, in the position that they are, potentially going six points clear of Man City at the top."

One last history lesson: Whether or not this does turn out to be the biggest game of the season, one thing is for sure - this is the biggest game between Leicester City and Manchester City since the 1969 FA Cup.

MCFC came out on top that day, thanks to Neil Young's winner at Wembley. Their captain Tony Book is pictured here lifting the cup.

  5. Ranieri as Man City manager? It almost happened...published at 12:24

Man City v Leicester (12:45 GMT)

It's not been mentioned much, if at all, in the build-up to this game but Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri almost became Manchester City manager in 2007.

He agreed to take charge but City were in the middle of being taken over by Thaksin Shinawatra, and the delay in getting a contract sorted saw Ranieri go to Juventus. Funnily enough, Sven-Goran Eriksson - who would later manage Leicester, took over at the Etihad instead.

Enough of the history lesson, though. Does Ranieri think Leicester can win today? Yes, sort of...

"Man City have too many dangerous players," he says. "You can play a perfect match but they'll win because they have magicians.

"It's an open game as they want to win. We want to win too, so it's open. Both teams want to win, so maybe it'll be a draw!"

  6. "It's big, but not decisive" - Pellegrinipublished at 12:22

Let's get down to business. In the week where it was announced he will be replaced by Pep Guardiola in the summer, Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini is not in the mood for hyperbole (is he ever?).

"It's not the biggest game of the season so far - we can win or lose this game and the Premier League will not end here," Pellegrini said.

"We have 39 more points to fight for. You cannot think you're champion if you win and if you lose, there are lots more points.

"It's a good game, a big game, but not decisive."

Yes, welcome to Manchester. The stage is set for an exciting afternoon, but the weather is being a bit of a pain... the rain is absolutely hammering it down at the Etihad Stadium.

  8. Man City vs the world?published at 12:15 Greenwich Mean Time 6 February 2016

Man City v Leicester (12:45 GMT)

Hello, welcome to Manchester (I'm sure I've heard that phrase uttered somewhere before).

Welcome to the biggest game of the weekend, and the biggest game of the season (so far).

Apart from Manchester City fans (and probably a fair few Nottingham Forest and Derby County supporters), is there anyone else out there who wants the home side to win?
