  1. Brighter than Bright?published at 14:51

Swansea v Crystal Palace (15:00 GMT)

Yes, he's back. From kicking Robin van Persie to saluting Tim Sherwood, Emmanuel Adebayor has had an, ahem, action-packed Premier League career, but he has a nose for goals as well as controversy - with 96 so far in English football.

Alan Pardew needs someone to score some goals and he hasn't been shy about pumping the new man's tyres.

"If we get Ade anywhere near his best he is a level above most players that have ever played for this football club," Pardew said.

"Mark Bright was our best striker and he can't even lace Ade's boots, I've been telling him that. He's not taken it well."

Strong knitwear choice from Signor Guidolin. It's a look that says 'retired army captain conducting charity raffle down the golf club' and he's rocking it.

And look at the way he's popped that collar. Audacious.

Swansea looked to be in real trouble when a 4-2 defeat by Sunderland last month left them just a point above the relegation zone, but since then they've been revitalised under new boss Francesco Guidolin.

Wins over Watford and Everton have seen them take seven points from a possible nine to pull five points clear of danger.

  4. Improving Swans look to pull awaypublished at 14:43

Swansea v Crystal Palace (15:00 GMT)

    Simon Brotherton
    Match of the Day commentator

"Crystal Palace were just two points outside the top four when the sides met just after Christmas but the game at Selhurst Park ended goalless and things have gone downhill for them ever since.

"Fifth place has become 12th, with Palace losing all five in the league. FA Cup wins over Southampton and Stoke have been the only bright spots so far since the turn of the year.

"Unlike Palace, Swansea's position has improved in recent weeks and, with Francesco Guidolin at the helm, they're now five points above the relegation zone.

"With Palace short on goals in recent weeks and dealing with a few injuries, the Swans will hope to pull further away from the bottom three this weekend."

  5. Lawro's predictionpublished at 14:40

Swansea v Crystal Palace (15:00 GMT)

    Mark Lawrenson
    BBC Sport football expert

"I'm going for a 2-2 draw. Swansea looked very bright in their draw at West Brom and had enough chances to win the game.Their new Italian striker Alberto Paloschi looked very lively when he came on in the second half.

"Crystal Palace are on an absolutely awful run but I think their form will pick up. I cannot see them being dragged into the relegation scrap, although it will help when Yannick Bolasie is back from injury.

"The Eagles can get their new striker Emmanuel Adebayor fit in a couple of weeks and, when that happens, he will make a difference. By that I mean keep the opposition centre-backs busy - which has not happened enough with Palace's strikers this season."

We've all been there. Crystal Palace are having one of those patches where they can't do anything right. The strikers can't score, the keeper can't make a save, the toast is very much falling buttered side down for Alan Pardew's men.

It's been a rotten start to the year for the Eagles. They seemed to be coasting to top-half respectability, and suddenly they're stuck in treacle. A run of five defeats in a row has seen Palace slip to 12th and Pardew - touted as a future England manager - lose a little of his silver sheen.

Can they arrest the slide today? A buoyant Swansea side stand in their way...
