"Harry Kane will be a relieved man he was flagged offside. He somehow managed to divert the ball backwards, when the goal was beckoning. I actually missed a worse one than that for Celtic against St Mirren. It was incredible, the ball was on its way going in."

You can see why George Moncur is sought after in the Colchester midfield. He is always demanding the ball and looking to get at the Spurs back four. This particular dribble is a good one but he can't find a pass through the eye of a needle and Kieran Trippier cuts it out.

"It's been a feature of Spurs' style this season to have players who are adaptable. Erik Lamela started on the right and has now drifted out to the left - while Nacer Chadli got his goal after switching the opposite way."

Colchester with the worst defence in the Football League, and shorn of their two centre-halves inside 20 minutes, may have taken this scoreline after 35 minutes.

Decent game this now. Eric Dier has to defend stoutly to first block a Darren Ambrose shot and then head a swirling cross away. Dier is back at centre-half today after a season in midfield. Colchester having a go!

Alistair Pike: That's been coming for Spurs. Can see this being a mauling now. Feel for Colchester.

Bradley Hill: The goal was coming shocking defending from Colchester

Wayne Andrews: Are Colchester the worst team in the country at the moment? Only 3 points from their last 14 games in League One?

Can Colchester keep their heads now? George Moncur has a rare sight of the Spurs goal before he is tackled by Eric Dier and then Harry Kane thumps a shot into the side-netting.

"No surprises there. Nacer Chadli with a little shift onto his right foot, powers the ball home. Colchester - having already had to change their two centre-backs - have got it all to do."

    Nacer Chadli

Talk about 'it had been coming.'

Spurs finally break through this makeshift Colhester backline as Erik Lamela picks out Nacer Chadli on the the right-hand side of the penalty area and the Belgian takes a touch before whipping a shot across Jake Kean and into the corner. Lovely finish. Is that the start of an avalanche?

Colchester have a spell of possession but it almost comes back to bite them as Harry Kane rolls his defender on halfway and then sends Christian Eriksen away through the middle. He is in on goal but shoots narrowly over!

It's been all Spurs but one ball over the top causes chaos at the back for Tottenham as Michel Vorm drops the ball right on the edge of the area! He just about gets away with it but in the maelstrom Kieran Trippier takes a whack to the head and needs treatment. A bad day for defenders so far.
