There has been widespread condemnation of the scenes at Reading yesterday, where a West Brom fan threw a coin at Baggies player Chris Brunt in their 3-1 FA Cup defeat.

Alan Cleverley, secretary of the West Bromwich Albion Supporters' Club, told BBC Radio 5 live: "The fans beside me started to applaud him because he had come to give his shirt to a young girl and then he crouched down because he had been hit.

"There was a lot of scuffling and pushing down the front. Somebody knows who threw that coin and I hope they have the decency to stand up and be counted for the sake of our football club."

But unfortunately Reading's win was not the main talking point from the match for many people.

That's because West Brom winger Chris Brunt was struck on the face by a coin thrown by a Baggies supporter, saying afterwards that he was "disgusted" and "ashamed" by the incident.

Brunt had gone over to give his shirt to one of the visiting fans after West Brom lost 3-1 in the FA Cup fifth round at Championship side Reading.

"If people come to football matches and think it is acceptable to throw coins at footballers or anyone else, it is disgusting," Brunt told BBC Sport.

  3. Saturday's actionpublished at 11:06

    Reading 3-1 West Brom

So it was hardly Wrexham shocking Arsenal or Hereford humiliating Newcastle, but Championship side Reading coming from behind to beat Premier League visitors West Brom is as near to a shock as we got.

Albion's Darren Fletcher opened the scoring by drilling a low shot from inside the area into the corner.

Reading's equaliser came through Paul McShane, who powered in a header. Michael Hector nodded in the second for the hosts, before substitute Lucas Piazon stroked in the third late on.

  5. Ticket touting laws being floutedpublished at 10:53

    BBC Radio 5 Live

A 5 live investigation has discovered that laws banning the touting of football tickets are being flouted, leaving supporters vulnerable to dubious online brokers.

In a bid to clamp down on illegal trading, Manchester United has seized more than 1,700 tickets during the last two seasons.

What do footballers these days get up to about three-and-a-half hours before kick-off? Smash down some beans and scrambled eggs on toast? A gentle stroll around the town centre? Or a bit of Netflix? Who knows.

The Blackburn and West Ham lads could be doing any of these three - or probably none of them. Let's have a quick look at who may or may not be playing for the two sides a little later...

Here's one man who has about to see that sign for Ewood Park on the M65 - our Match of the Day commentator Alistair Mann.

Of course Alistair has got to get there early. He needs to memorise his match notes, leaf through the matchday programme and make sure his equipment is set up and working. Pro.

We've all dreamed of playing in the FA Cup - and some of you may have done it. But, for most of us average Sunday footballers, the nearest feeling we get to playing in the famous competition is the Doncaster (insert your town here) & District Alliance Shield.

They can throw up some memorable moments though - and we want to know them. Have you been involved in a epic cup comeback? What's the best cup tie you have played in?

Of course, there is the potential of a couple of crackers away from the big game.

Premier League high-fliers West Ham travel to Championship strugglers Blackburn, with the success-starved visitors fancying their chances of winning Old Big Ears for the first time since 1980. A routine away win? Hmmmm, we'll see.

And sandwiched in-between that game and the big one, there is an all-Premier League clash between Tottenham and Crystal Palace. Anyone going to stick a quid on Emmanuel Adebayor to bag the winner?

Chelsea v Manchester City (16:00 GMT)

Perhaps I should have said that Chelsea v Manchester City is the tie of the round on paper.

Because we're not likely to see the full array of stars that we've been accustomed to when these sides meet.

City boss Manuel Pellegrini says he is likely to play some of his youngsters, meaning we might have to quickly tap some unfamiliar names into a well-known search engine when the team news starts dropping about 15:00 GMT...

Hello! Yesterday we had a shock result, a comedy own goal, a bore draw and a player-fan row. And that was about it.

But, as D:Ream famously sang, things can only get better. Here's what is coming up....

The round-ball game is almost unrecognisable from the era when these two elderly, bespectacled, Football Association suits used to conduct the FA Cup draw.

But, despite all the flash cash, the brash sponsorship, the ridiculous haircuts, one thing has remained constant - that lovely velvet bag used to hold the balls ahead of the big reveal.

Three teams are already assured to be in there after Saturday's ties, with one more to be confirmed.

Now today six more teams are trying to join Everton, Reading, Watford and Arsenal/Hull in the bag...
