The tempo has dropped from the opening 10 minutes. But that is largely because the visitors are managing the game so well. Aaron Lennon looks to get something going for Everton down the right but his low cross is poor and cleared.

Romelu Lukaku is not in this game at the moment. He is being well looked after by Gabriel and Laurent Koscielny, who are tag-teaming him Rockers style. All the two of them need are tassels round their biceps.

Almost double the amount of action in Everton's own third, than in Arsenal's, but only one goal separates the two sides.

"Arsenal's tactics mean their front four are very adaptable. Alex Iwobi, for example, started on the left but is frequently coming inside. That gives Mesut Ozil all sorts of room. 

"And that's really confusing the Everton defenders, who are just giving away possession and not closing down quick enough. 

"Everton are fast asleep, the midfield really isn't working, and the home fans will be very disgruntled if this carries on for the next 15 minutes."

A rare Everton chance falls to Muhamed Besic, but his low angled shot from the edge of the box is saved by David Ospina.

There were 12 passes in the lead up to Danny Welbeck's goal - this is the third most for an Arsenal league goal this season (not including own goals).  

Mesut Ozil threatens a second as he collects an Alexis Sanchez pass in the box but his shot is blocked by Phil Jagielka. Everton are giving Arsenal way too much space.

Good defending from Gabriel prevents Aaron Lennon's low cross reaching Romelu Lukaku on the edge of the six-yard box.

This is a much better display from Arsenal - committed, quick, incisive. They get in down the left as Nacho Monreal is found. The full-back's cross is a good one, across goal, but there are no team-mates to take advantage.

Leighton Baines charges down the left and wins a free-kick about 35 yards from goal following a foul by Hector Bellerin. Baines delivers himself but fails to beat the first man. Poor.

Everton look to respond but Romelu Lukaku drifts offside as he looks to collect Leighton Baines' pass down the left.

Replays of the goal show Arsene Wenger give a little skip of joy when Welbeck's effort hit the back of the net. He has not been this happy in weeks.

"Danny Welbeck has looked really, really dangerous, right from the start. The ball was slipped through to him, past a very square-looking Everton defence. The keeper could do nothing about it and really had to get out of the way of a striker. And a cool finish. 

"I don't think I've seen a game start like this in the Premier League this season. It could quite easily be 2-2 already. 

"The Everton defence is far too open - they are being cut to shreds."

Arsenal have a great chance to make it 2-0 almost straight after the opener. Alexis Sanchez is given acres of space to shoot from the edge of the box but his low drive is saved by Joel Robles. This is open a first 10 minutes as I've seen in a long time.

Cracking start. Romelu Lukaku gets away down the right and crosses for Ross Barkley, who is crucially beaten in the air by Laurent Koscielny.
