  3. 'I am happy with our domination'published at 20:20 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2016

Borussia Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel, speaking to BT Sport: ""We played confident, we managed to keep the space very tight. We attacked Tottenham very early and did not allow them to come into our half. There was a lot of speed in the game in the first half and in the second half we were able to move up higher and dominate completely. I am very happy with the performance.

"It is a very hard-working team I have. We adapt to the strength of the opponent. We had to suffer and we made Tottenham suffer and I am very happy with the domination of the performance.

"I am almost sure we will need it all again at Tottenham. It will be a tight game again."

  4. 'We had a very bad day'published at 20:15 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2016

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino, speaking to BT Sport: "It is difficult to explain but a bad day and I'm disappointed with our performance. We did not play well. That is why we lost the game.

"We need to fight in the return leg next week. Three nil is not a good result for us but we still need to keep working hard and try next Thursday.

"This was our first time losing 3-0 this season. We need to be calm and be sure it doesn't happen again."

  5. 'It is going to be tough for us'published at 20:08 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2016

Tottenham defender Kevin Wimmer, speaking to BT Sport: "We are very disappointed with the performance. Against a team like Dortmund you can't play like this. We did not press them well.

"It would have been very good for us if we had got one goal here. Now we have to score three at White Hart Lane. If we get an early goal in the next game and put them under a lot of pressure you never know but it is going to be tough for us."

Lee, Glos: Why is anyone surprised about the rotation? Spurs did the same in the FA Cup which was a more realistic target. The league is their priority and their squad is not good enough to win multiple trophies...yet! Give Poch a transfer window where he can spend big money (remember he made profits over the last 2 seasons) and Spurs will be very dangerous. Let's also acknowledge that Dortmund are a genuinely brilliant side and would batter most premier league first teams.

No shame in losing to that Dortmund side, they were fantastic.

What might be a bit of a concern for Tottenham fans is that they have not won any of their previous three games, losing two of them.

    Just a blip?

Ukrainian champions Shakhtar Donetsk were pegged back to 2-1 by Anderlecht of Belgium but restored their two-goal cushion through former Arsenal striker Eduardo. At 3-1 after the first leg, is it tie over already?

Fenerbahce grabbed a late winner at home to Sporting Braga of Portugal - not Robin van Persie but defensive midfielder Mehmet Topal with the game's only goal.

And in the evening's other early kick-off, defending champions Sevilla drew 0-0 away to Swiss club Basel.

Up goes the fourth official's board with three minutes on it. Kieran Tripper is on a tricky run towards the area, appears to be fouled by Mats Hummels but again nothing given.

Still, Spurs are pressing a bit here.

Party time for the home fans. They may as well start thinking about getting 7 April booked off. If Tottenham don't get an away goal, it is hard to see Dortmund not reaching the quarter-finals.

A great burst of pace from Joshua Onomah and he charges towards the area only to run into Mats Hummels leg. Surely a foul on the edge of the area? Nothing given. Tottenham can count themselves a bit unlucky there.

John Madrid: Rotation aside Spurs heading for third disappointing result in a row. Form and confidence could be going at wrong time.

Tony, Leeds: What is it with our Premier League teams? Awash with TV money and none seem capable of seriously competing on more than one front. It's embarrassing.

Relief for Tottenham as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang goes off. He's been excellent tonight and deservedly gets a standing ovation. On comes Shinji Kagawa.

Worrying for Spurs, Dortmund want more goals. Spurs can't get the ball at the moment.

    Borussia Dortmund 3-0 Tottenham

A free-kick for Tottenham on the right flank. Send the defenders up. Heck, send Hugo Lloris up. Erik Lamela curls the ball into the area, the Spurs players rush in but Roman Weidenfeller makes the catch.

Manchester United old boy Shinji Kagawa is about to be introduced for the hosts.
