About 15 minutes ago I told you it was game on at Old Trafford. Now it appears to be game over. Philippe Coutinho clipped Liverpool level just before the half-time whistle - meaning Manchester United now need to score at least three second-half goals to progress...

Time for a breather at White Hart Lane - and Spurs have a lot of soul-searching to do. They need FIVE goals in the second half (without conceding) to reach the Europa League quarter-finals. No wonder Mauricio Pochettino goes down the tunnel with the expression of a bloke who has just found out he is having a plate of broccoli for his dinner.

Should be 2-0! Dortmund forward Henrikh Mkhitaryan is clean through, all alone like Usain Bolt streaking towards the finish line. But wait! The Armenian dithers as he tries to pick his spot, allowing Toby Alderweireld to scamper back and force Mkhitaryan into skewing wide.

Spurs press in the last stages of the first half, with Ryan Mason's scuffed shot drilling into the turf and then being headed out.

Three minutes of stoppage time for Spurs to grab something that will give them hope. If I was a home fan I'd already be down at the front of the hot dog queue.

"Handball!" shouts the majority of White Hart Lane as Dele Alli tries to thread a pass through to Son Heung-min. Not a chance. Dortmund defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos (I hope he doesn't get involved in this game too often) blocks with his body.

Chance! Spurs create their best opening of the evening as Son Heung-min races through after being played in by Erik Lamela. 

The ex-Hamburg and Leverkusen forward knows how to score against Dortmund...but not this time. The Korean, looking for his sixth goal in six games against Dortmund, drags a shot across the face of goal and well wide.

Dortmund slice open Spurs easier than a butcher chops up a tender piece of sirloin. But home defender Kevin Wimmer is alert to stretch and stop Marco Reus going clean through.

Things you did not expect to see: Tottenham have had more possession than Dortmund in these opening 37 minutes. However, it has virtually all been around the halfway line. 

Have Spurs been handed an ASBO? They have barely ventured into Dortmund's back yard. Not one shot on target yet...

Game on at Old Trafford. United striker Anthony Martial strides up and plants home a penalty, halving the deficit against their Premier League rivals.

Now here's a chance. Spurs win a free-kick about 40 yards out, with Erik Lamela causing panic in the Dortmund box with a clipped delivery towards the far post. Toby Alderweireld is lurking and ready to pounce, but Dortmund defender Neven Subotic swings a boot and clears.

All pretty flat now at White Hart Lane. Spurs are toiling, knocking the ball around the halfway line, but struggling to penetrate the yellow wall in front of them.

Stevey Gee Sings: So with Spurs now out of the Europa League (bar a miracle)... Back them for the title?! Possible.

Spurs are rocking. The white shirts of their usually-reliable defence are scattered all over the White Hart Lane pitch like drying clothes blown across the garden on a windy day.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang storms through on goal, only to be denied by a superb last-gasp block by Toby Alderweireld. The Belgian then schoolboys Lukasz Piszczek with a Marseilles turn on the edge of his own area.

Nice, but better when you are winning 4-0 on aggregate Toby....
