    Joel Fentem: Frank Lampard-esque!

Andrew Priestley: That's an excellent team goal from Chelsea. Great footwork, movement and execution.

Sibs: Villa are the worst team in Premier League history after Derby 07/08. Not one player who is Premier League standard.

"Jordan Ayew started the attack with a little sinewy dribble. Thibaut Courtois managed to gather the ball after a deflection in the box. But that attack will be uplifting for the Villa supporters."

Ooo Alexandre Pato looks to get on the end of a Cesc Fabregas through ball but it's just too deep.

At the other end, Jordan Ayew makes inroads down the left again, puts in Carles Gil, whose shot is saved by Thibaut Coutois. The Chelsea keeper is then fortunate as a Baba Rahman clearance falls to him after cannoning off Ayew.

Ayew whacks the post in frustration.

"Credit to Pedro for his run, and it was lovely movement in the box from Ruben Loftus-Cheek, to make the space to put the ball under Brad Guzan. Excellent stuff."

What a boost from Alexandre Pato. Maybe. Cesar Azpilicueta has time and space down the right to cross low to Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who meets it at the near post with the ball taking a clip off Joleon Lescott on its way into the net.

There is a reason why Loic Remy looked subdued. He is going off injured and guess who's coming on? Yes, it's Alexandre Pato. After 64 days and seven minutes he's on. Stop the clock., external Chelsea fans rejoice but Falcao looks miffed on the bench.

Nice play from Jordan Ayew, who has been Villa's best player so far. He dribbles down the left, cuts inside and lets rip from about 25 yards but the ball is deflected for a corner.

That is headed clear with Carlos Sanchez shanking his follow-up shot wide and high. Ugly.

The 'oles' have broken out from the home supporters as Villa enjoy a passage of possession. A heavy dose of irony accompanies those cheers, you suspect.

Meanwhile, Pedro has the ball in the net, but he's called offside. Nice diagonal from Cesc Fabregas, as he finds his former Barca team-mate, but the decision was correct.

Loic Remy starting up front for Chelsea today but he's shown little so far as he is hustled off the ball. Ruben Loftus-Cheek has shown greater willing to break forward from a deeper position.

Is it too early to call this a game where the players look like they are on the beach?

"I think David Moyes would listen to an offer but I have to look at the games in the Championship. They could go down with what they have or what they haven't got. You would need unbelievable assurances from those running the club. My question is: why didn't they buy anyone in January?"

Incidentally, Guus Hiddink's first ever game in charge of Chelsea came back in February 2009 at Villa Park. The Dutchman, appointed on an interim basis following the sacking of Luiz Felipe Scolari, oversaw a 1-0 away win with Nicola Anelka grabbing the winner.
