"As soon as Aguero picks the ball up Silva is off, and in on goal. But instead of shooting he lays it off to De Bruyne. He doesn't hit it, he guides it. Great goal, and City are rampant."

    Some goal this by City...

True, Bournemouth's Charlie Daniels helps them a lot with a foolish dash across the face of his own area but, from there, it was pure poetry.

The ball hardly touched the ground as Sergio Aguero found David Silva and his first-time flick was sweetly volleyed home by Kevin de Bruyne.

    Bournemouth 0-1 Man City

BBC Sport's Mark Mitchener at Vitality Stadium: "Just after Bournemouth nearly hit City on the break, the travelling sky blue contingent - who have been in good voice from the start - have a goal to cheer while they shelter their eyes from the bright Dorset sunshine."

  4. Postpublished at 10 mins

    Bournemouth 0-1 Man City

Will Bournemouth manage a quick response? Not this time. Max Gradel has the ball in a promising position on the left, but his dangerous-looking cross cannot quite find a team-mate in the middle.

  5. 'Rabbits in the headlights'published at 15:09 British Summer Time 2 April 2016

    Garth Crooks
Former Spurs striker on Final Score

"A really disappointing goal for Bournemouth to give away, after such sterling work all season. They allow the ball to bounce in the box before Fernando hooks it home. The Cherries looked like rabbits in the headlights."

Bournemouth made a bad start against Tottenham last time out and they have done the same here. Jesus Navas sends across a bouncing corner from the right and it comes through to Fernando, who calmly turns it home.

That's the Brazilian's first goal of the season, and only his third for City since joining in June 2014.

Hang on, because although that was the end of that City attack, it was just the start of a lightning-quick Bournemouth break. They play in Joshua King, who surges into the right-hand side of the area, but his shot - if that is what it was - trundles well wide.

Better by the visitors, who ping a few passes about before spreading play right to Jesus Navas and then back left to Kevin de Bruyne. His low cross is blocked by Simon Francis, though, so that is the end of that.

    Bournemouth 0-0 Man City

Bournemouth have enjoyed most of the early possession but all of their attempts to play their way into the City area have failed so far, and when the home side did go long, Pablo Zabaleta headed clear.

  12. De Bruyne back, and Nasri on the benchpublished at 14:56

Bournemouth v Man City (15:00 BST)

So, Kevin de Bruyne is back in the City starting XI today. He has missed 12 matches with a knee injury and City have won just four of them.

And Samir Nasri is on the bench for the visitors after an even longer injury nightmare.

Nasri, who last played a first-team game in October, required almost 100 stitches in a thigh muscle injury sustained on the training ground.

Back in January, Nasri told the Manchester Evening News:, external "My surgeon told me this was a rare injury as the muscle had detached from the bone and the tendon was also 90% detached and had to be stitched back together so it was something that doesn't happen very often."

    In a word: "Ouch!"

"The outcome here partly depends on which Manchester City turn up. If it's the one we've seen in recent weeks, then Bournemouth will fancy their chances. They'll be mindful of what their opponents are capable of though after losing 5-1 at the Etihad in October.

"A return to some sort of form is needed by City sooner rather than later if they're not to miss out on the minimum expectation of Champions League football next season under Pep Guardiola."

BBC Sport's Mark Mitchener at Vitality Stadium: "It's traditional for a home chairman to welcome the visiting players, staff and directors in his programme notes. It's less traditional for the home chairman to identify himself as a boyhood fan of the visiting team in such notes.

"But Cherries chief Jeff Mostyn, despite styling himself 'a born and bred Manc', insists today that 'any lingering sentiments are left behind once kick-off arrives'. He'll be rooting for a Bournemouth win."

  16. City 'horrendous' away from homepublished at 14:49 British Summer Time 2 April 2016

Bournemouth v Man City (15:00 BST)

    Mark Lawrenson
    Former Liverpool defender

"Bournemouth are safe and will have a real go at Manchester City, whose form has been horrendous on the road.

"The way City are playing at the moment, it is hard to see them improving on that too much at the Vitality Stadium."

Bournemouth v Man City (15:00 BST)

It's a bright sunny day on the south coast - so Manchester City fans will hope the rise in temperatures will bring a revival in their side's away form.

At the end of last summer, City started the season with three straight away league wins. Since then, they have picked up only 11 points from a possible 33 on the road, scoring a paltry seven goals.

Plenty of room for improvement there...

By the way, that game in 1999 saw one of the strangest red cards in history - City's Kevin Horlock was sent off by referee Brian Coddington for... well, I'm not entirely sure really, and neither was the ref.

A confused City boss Joe Royle explained after the game: "The referee said Kevin was walking towards him in an aggressive manner while asking a question. He admitted that the player never swore - I must have missed the rule change…”

  19. "We've only got nine men"published at 14:42

Bournemouth v Man City (15:00 BST)

BBC Sport's Mark Mitchener at Vitality Stadium: "City's last visit here came in February 1999 when Joe Royle's side were spending their one and only year in the third tier. Future Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe was playing in defence against a City side who were shown a total of seven yellow cards - including two each for Jamie Pollock and Kevin Horlock, who were both given their marching orders in the last six minutes. But the nine men of City held out for a 0-0 draw."
